On October 17, speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Ms. Le Thi Thanh H., a clerical staff of Mac Thi Buoi Primary School (Buon Ma Thuot City) said that she had just completed returning more than 32 million VND in health insurance premiums that had been collected from students but "forgotten" to pay.
According to Ms. Thanh H., she personally went to the homes of more than 20 students to return the money. For families who did not know the address, she asked the parents or village chiefs to take them there. In addition, some parents came to receive the money at the school.
“When I return the money, I always send my sincere apologies to the parents,” said Ms. Thanh H.
A leader of Mac Thi Buoi school confirmed that Ms. Thanh H. has returned all the health insurance money to the students. The school is waiting for the final conclusion of the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City.
Previously, at the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, a parent named H. paid 632,000 VND to Ms. Thanh H. to buy a one-year health insurance card for her child.
However, last July, Ms. H.'s child had to be hospitalized for treatment, but the hospital informed her that the child's health insurance card had expired for 7 months. Ms. H. confirmed that she had paid the school for the health insurance card, but the hospital did not accept it. She had to pay more than 3 million VND in hospital fees for her child's treatment.
After the incident, Mac Thi Buoi Primary School reviewed and discovered that 77 other students were also not able to buy insurance cards despite paying money.
Mac Thi Buoi Primary School said that since 2021, Ms. Thanh H. has been working as a school health officer. After this incident, she submitted a request to resign from her concurrent position, only doing clerical work, and was approved by the school leadership.
After the incident of 'forgetting' to pay insurance for students, the staff asked to quit working concurrently . The clerical staff of Mac Thi Buoi Primary School (Dak Lak) has just asked to stop working concurrently as a school health worker after the incident of 'forgetting' to pay insurance for 78 students even though the money had been collected.
