Over the past eight decades, every decision of the National Assembly has resonated throughout every village and every household in the highlands; supporting the aspirations for change of the ethnic minorities, creating a foundation for Lai Chau to steadily advance on the path of rapid and sustainable development. The 80th anniversary of the National Assembly is not only an opportunity to look back on this glorious journey but also a call to action urging us to continue nurturing the aspiration to rise up, building a prosperous, beautiful, civilized Lai Chau, imbued with the unique identity of its ethnic groups.

Towards the 80th anniversary of the Vietnamese National Assembly

From the first free vote in 1946, the Vietnamese National Assembly ushered in a new era of democracy, empowering the people to directly govern themselves and laying the foundation for a socialist rule of law state. For the past 80 years, the National Assembly has been a symbol of national wisdom, political acumen, and dedicated service to the people. This journey is exemplified by five Constitutions and hundreds of strategically valuable laws, forming the legal foundation for national development in all fields. As the People's Representatives Newspaper emphasizes, it is a journey of continuous innovation and the constant creation of sustainable development based on the will and aspirations of the people.

Within this overall context, Lai Chau – a strategic border region of the Fatherland – has always received profound attention from the National Assembly, the Government, and various ministries and agencies. Major policies on the development of ethnic minority areas, especially the National Target Program for the period 2021-2030, and resolutions of the National Assembly on infrastructure investment, education, health, and sustainable poverty reduction, have created a strong impetus, helping Lai Chau to break through and improve the quality of life for its people. From winding mountain roads and newly built schools in the highlands to increasingly expanding commercial agricultural production areas, the imprint of the National Assembly is always present in every step of the province's development.

The 80th anniversary of the Vietnamese National Assembly therefore holds special significance for Lai Chau. As a result, the people of Lai Chau increasingly trust the National Assembly, the Party, and the State; and actively participate in patriotic emulation movements, building advanced new rural areas, preserving cultural identity, and protecting the sacred borders and boundary markers of the Fatherland.

Eighty years of accompanying the nation have also left us with profound lessons. These include the spirit of inheritance and innovation in legislation, supervision, and decision-making on important national issues. They also teach us about placing the people at the center, listening to their voices, and relying on them to improve laws and implement policies. As the People's Army Newspaper clearly points out, the quality of the National Assembly's activities has been increasingly improved, and its supervisory methods have been significantly reformed, contributing to purifying the apparatus, strengthening discipline and order, and consolidating the people's trust in the State.

Lai Chau enters a new phase with confidence and a strong desire for development. The province's major goals regarding high-tech agricultural development, green tourism development, leveraging border trade advantages, and improving the quality of human resources are closely linked to the policies and guidelines issued by the National Assembly. Therefore, the 80th anniversary of the National Assembly further motivates the province to play a proactive and creative role, strengthen legal awareness among the people, improve the quality of voter engagement, accelerate digital transformation in state management, and build a government that is close to, respects, and serves the people. In the solemn atmosphere of this anniversary, we understand even more clearly that the strength of the National Assembly lies in the strength of the people's will.
