The scene at the meeting.
At the meeting, the Southern Institute of Water Resources Science presented a summary of its proposed investment plan for the project to restore the eastern coastline of Ca Mau, aiming to serve disaster prevention and mitigation, and climate change adaptation; while also creating a foundation for socio -economic development linked to national defense and security.
The project is expected to implement restoration activities on approximately 3,900 hectares of eroded coastal space, with the goal of protecting the coastline, minimizing erosion, restoring mangrove forests, and gradually rehabilitating the coastal ecological space.
The Southern Institute of Water Resources Science has recommended that the province propose to the Government and relevant ministries and central agencies to consider applying special mechanisms and policies to restore the eastern coast of Ca Mau; allow adjustments to the planning in parallel with the project implementation; and approve the principle for the province to hire a consulting unit to prepare a pre-feasibility study report.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Su emphasized: Investing in the restoration of the eastern coast of Ca Mau is an important and urgent task, but it must be implemented cautiously, ensuring a solid legal basis and conformity with current planning. Based on this, Vice Chairman Le Van Su requested that the draft Plan for implementing Plan No. 27 clarify the direction for implementing projects to prevent and combat erosion and protect the coastline, linking it with the conclusions of the General Secretary during his visit and inspection of Hon Khoai Island; it must specifically define the roadmap, tasks, and responsibilities of each agency and unit.

Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Lam Van Bi delivered the concluding remarks at the meeting.
Concluding the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, Lam Van Bi, emphasized: The project to restore the eastern coastline of Ca Mau is of particular importance in protecting the coastline, responding to climate change, ensuring the safety of people's lives, and creating a foundation for the sustainable socio-economic development of the province in the long term.
Therefore, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Lam Van Bi Provincial People's Committee requested relevant departments and units to continue proactively reviewing and fully updating the conclusions and directives of the Central Government and the General Secretary, promptly reporting and proposing solutions to overcome difficulties and obstacles, especially those "bottlenecks" related to land, forests, planning, and investment procedures.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested relevant units to coordinate in finalizing the draft Plan for implementing Plan No. 27 according to key content groups, clarifying the implementation roadmap, tasks and responsibilities of each agency and unit; and to advise on the establishment of specialized working groups to handle inter-sectoral issues, ensuring the project's implementation is synchronized, effective, compliant with regulations, and meets the urgent requirements.
