(HG) - In recent years, the bird's nest farming industry in Hau Giang province has been developing strongly, contributing to creating jobs and increasing income for local people. According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) of Hau Giang province, there are currently many bird's nest farming facilities in the province, mainly concentrated in districts such as Chau Thanh, Long My and Vi Thanh city. Many households have invested in building modern bird's nest houses, applying advanced technology to optimize the process of raising and harvesting bird's nests.
The newly built bird's nest house of Mr. Dao Hong Nghi, in Long My district, strictly complies with regulations on bird's nest farming.
However, along with the rapid development of this profession, there have also been difficulties and challenges that need to be resolved. One of the notable issues is the management of planning and ensuring the ecological environment. In order to strengthen the management and development of the bird's nest farming industry in the province, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the province has issued a document requesting the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to implement measures to ensure the sustainable development of the bird's nest farming industry.
In particular, the document specifies the areas for raising swiftlets to avoid spontaneous development, ensuring that it does not affect the surrounding environment and people's lives. It clearly states the regulations on the management of swiftlet farming such as: swiftlet houses and equipment used for swiftlet farming must be suitable for the habits of swiftlets; there must be enough water sources to ensure quality for farming activities; there must be measures to protect the environment according to the provisions of the law on environmental protection; there must be records and archives of information on swiftlet farming activities, preliminary processing and preservation of swiftlet nests to ensure traceability of the origin of swiftlet products; sound equipment to attract swiftlets must have a sound intensity measured at the mouth of the speaker not exceeding 70 dBA (decibel A); the time to use loudspeakers to attract swiftlets is from 5:00 to 11:30 and from 13:30 to 19:00 every day.
In addition, organizations and individuals raising swiftlets must declare their farming activities periodically twice a year and at prescribed time points. Along with that, swiftlet farmers must comply with legal regulations on investment, land, environment, construction and other relevant specialized laws.
