Ninh Giang district is located in the south of Hai Duong province, including 1 town and 15 communes. The north borders Gia Loc and Tu Ky districts; the south borders Quynh Phu district (Thai Binh); the east borders Tu Ky district; the west borders Thanh Mien district.

By 2030, upgrade Ninh Giang urban area (expansion) to a type IV urban area, including the entire area of Ninh Giang town and Vinh Hoa commune. By 2030, the new planning area for urban development and rural residential areas in the communes of Hung Long, Duc Phuc, Tan Huong, Tan Quang, Hong Phong, Hiep Luc, An Duc, Binh Xuyen will be adjusted to reduce.
