Efforts to maintain
After the district was separated in early 1997, the Department of Culture - Information - Sports of Ninh Giang district was the unit in charge of organizing the Spring Newspaper Festival and Han - Nom calligraphy. The first time the organization encountered many difficulties such as no exhibition venue, limited resources to buy and borrow books and newspapers...
The organizers borrowed the Ninh Giang Town Cultural House to hold the exhibition. Cultural officials went to the Provincial Library to borrow and requested nearly 200 copies of Spring newspapers from sectors and localities across the country. After the exhibition of books and newspapers, the organizers returned most of the books and newspapers, while a few were donated by the Provincial Library for use as documents and displayed in some communes and schools.
After many times of organizing Spring newspaper exhibitions "thanks" to the location, in 2004, Ninh Giang district invested in building the most spacious district library in the province at that time. With a spacious location and experience from previous times, the organization of Spring newspaper exhibitions in Ninh Giang district has become more scientific and larger in scale. From 1997 to now, Ninh Giang district has organized Spring newspaper exhibitions, some years adding Spring photos, Han - Nom calligraphy at the district library with about 100 - 200 publications of central and local press agencies.
In the early 2000s, Ninh Giang District Library had a large number of readers, most of whom were students from Thanh Nhan Secondary School and Ninh Giang Town Secondary School. For the past 15 years, Ms. Pham Thi Xuan from Ninh Giang Town has participated in the Spring Newspaper Exhibition at the District Library. She always arranges time to read the newspapers every time Tet comes and Spring comes.
“The Spring Newspaper includes the most quintessential articles and poems of the whole old year, reflecting the spirit of the new year, so it is written very carefully, with elaborate investment in content and form,” Ms. Xuan shared.
Developing a reading culture
According to the leader of Ninh Giang District People's Committee, right from the beginning of the Spring Newspaper Exhibition, the locality determined how to bring to the people good books and newspapers with rich content. The core purpose of the exhibition is to help arouse the love for books and newspapers, encourage the formation of reading habits, and build a reading culture.
On January 17, 2025, the Ninh Giang District Culture, Sports and Communication Center cut the ribbon to open the At Ty 2025 Spring Newspaper Exhibition with the theme "Celebrating the Party - Celebrating Spring - Celebrating the country's renewal". During the exhibition, 12 primary and secondary schools in the district organized for students to visit and read books and newspapers for study and research. According to the leader of the Ninh Giang District Departmentof Education and Training, most students showed interest in reading books and newspapers, helping them to both acquire new knowledge and learn and play after stressful lessons at school.
The exhibition, which took place only at Ninh Giang District Library from January 17 to 25, attracted more than 5,000 readers inside and outside the district. By early February 2025, more than 100 domestic and foreign press publications of the 2025 Ninh Giang District Spring Newspaper Exhibition were available on the bookshelves of Thanh Nhan Secondary School Library in Ninh Giang Town. This is a high-quality key school of the district with a long history of achievements at the top of the district. Teachers and students of the school were very excited with the meaningful gift containing a lot of knowledge.
