As of June 24, according to the provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, Hai Duong has planted about 6,000 hectares of summer-autumn vegetables, reaching 63% of the planned area.
Kim Thanh is the district leading the province in terms of summer-autumn vegetable area planted with about 1,000 hectares, followed by Gia Loc and Nam Sach districts with about 600 - 700 hectares...
This summer-autumn crop, the whole province plans to plant 9,500 hectares or more of vegetables, equivalent to the same period in 2024, concentrated in specialized areas, riverside alluvial land... Some crops encouraged for production in this crop are corn, squash, melons of all kinds, leafy vegetables, and tomatoes.
The annual summer-autumn vegetable crop lasts from May to the end of August. Since it is the rainy season, experts recommend that farmers during this period should plant corn and short-term vegetables (25-30 days/crop) such as coriander, onions, and mustard greens, and avoid planting in areas prone to flooding. In August, switch to planting tomatoes, cabbage, kohlrabi, cauliflower, etc. to harvest at the beginning of winter for a good price.
Although not as expensive as winter and spring vegetables, summer-autumn vegetables also bring significant income to farmers.
