Over the past 15 years, the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund has implemented 5 projects, supporting more than 1,700 students from ethnic minorities and coastal areas. Notably, more than 63% of them are female students, who often face more difficulties in accessingeducation due to many barriers in backward customs and culture.

On October 26, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund organized the program "15-year mark - Lighting up dreams". The program aims to summarize and evaluate 15 years of implementing 5 investment projects to build young human resources for ethnic minority and island areas (5 projects include: Nurturing the future; Winging dreams; Opening the way to the future; Lighting up the future; Supporting students). The program is also an opportunity to express gratitude to the benefactors who have accompanied the Fund in the past time.

Rising from the scholarship fund

The story of the Tay ethnic girl, Hoang Vu Thi Thu Trang, one of the first students of the "Nurturing the Future" project under the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund, has truly touched the hearts of many people at the program "15-year mark - Lighting up dreams". From a poor rural girl, Thu Trang has risen to become a software engineer. Thu Trang's success is not only the result of personal efforts but also a testament to the kindness of philanthropists who have given her the opportunity to change her life.

Thu Trang said that her family was very poor at first, and her mother had to support her three children by herself. In 8th grade, Trang received support from the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund. Trang was sent to Ho Chi Minh City to study at Duy Tan Secondary and High School from 8th to 12th grade. During her university years, Trang continued to receive partial financial support from the Fund's "student support" project.

"Up to this day, I feel very lucky to have received support from the Scholarship Fund and I am grateful for that. So, after having a stable job, I came back to "extend" my arm with the Fund in supporting scholarships for students. I think that doing small things at a young age is both to repay the favor and to help students in difficult circumstances like me," Trang confided.

Similarly, Huynh Thi Kim Lien, a female student supported by the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund's "Opening the Way to the Future" project, has just graduated from Thu Dau Mot University, Binh Duong . During her student years, Lien not only studied well but also actively participated in many school activities, was Vice President of the school's Student Union and was honored to join the Party.

Kim Lien shared: "7 years ago, I had to face a difficult decision whether to continue my education or go to work early to help my family. At that time, the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund opened a new turning point for my life. Not only was I supported financially, I also participated in soft skills training courses, equipped with knowledge to confidently step into life. Thanks to that, I have gradually matured and become more confident in the future. I am extremely grateful to the golden hearts who gave me this precious opportunity."

Concern for gender equality

After 15 years of implementation, Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund has 5 deep investment projects, up to now has awarded scholarships to more than 1,700 students, of which more than 1,240 are ethnic minorities of 38 ethnic groups in 51 provinces and cities; 489 students from coastal and island areas. The projects have also built 20 schools and school sites, 2 clean water projects, 7 roads to schools and 40 new rural bridges in remote areas.

Each project of Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund, nurtured by the generosity of the community, is a seed sown in difficult lands, where ethnic minority students, fishermen’s children and soldiers’ children are eager to study. Those seeds have sprouted and grown, contributing to building a talented young generation, ready to contribute to the country.

In particular, among the 5 projects of the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund, the project "Opening the way to the future" is a project in collaboration with the Vinacapital Fund specifically for female students. The project creates conditions for ethnic minority female students from difficult family circumstances to study with peace of mind. The project gives them the opportunity to study continuously for 7 years, from high school to university, helping them overcome economic barriers and social prejudices. To date, the project has helped 81 female students graduate, affirming the importance of investing in female education.

Ms. Truong My Hoa, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, President of the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund, Head of the Club "For Beloved Hoang Sa and Truong Sa".

Ms. Truong My Hoa, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, President of the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund, and Head of the "For Beloved Hoang Sa and Truong Sa" Club, said: The program is an opportunity to look back on a period of activities and follow Uncle Ho's teachings: "We must make the mountainous areas catch up with the lowlands, and make ethnic minorities enjoy more and more political, economic and cultural rights". In particular, during his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh always paid attention to the issue of gender equality. Therefore, the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund also has many programs to care for and accompany female students.

"More than 63% of students receiving scholarships are female. We mention this number to say that we care about them. Because female ethnic minority students often suffer many disadvantages and barriers in terms of backward customs and culture that hinder their development," said Ms. Truong My Hoa.
