Quyen Linh causes surprise

At noon on August 2, artist Quyen Linh confirmed that he will play the role of a single father raising a child in the movie "Hai Muoi", after 20 years of stopping acting.

Sharing privately with Lao Dong, the male artist emotionally said that this comeback has the support of his family. He also hopes that the audience will welcome his role.

Quyen Linh said he accepted to participate in the new project because of his long-standing friendship with director - artist Vu Thanh Vinh, and because he was passionate about the story about father-son love.

To achieve the realistic look as the director wanted, the artist did not wear makeup but grew his beard and hair for six months. His wife and children put him on a diet rich in vegetables, which helped him lose weight from over 100 kg to 70 kg.

The film was released on the 2.9 holiday, coinciding with the film "Getting Rich with Ghosts" by Hoai Linh and Tuan Tran. In addition, the project "Ma da" by Viet Huong was also released in mid-August - quite close to the two films by Quyen Linh and Hoai Linh.

The script revolves around Mr. Hai - a single father who raises his children as a salt maker in Thieng Lieng island hamlet. Life is difficult, and his family has often fallen into a deadlock. When his daughter - Muoi (Huynh Bao Ngoc) grows up and goes to the city to study at university, the conflict between Mr. Hai and his daughter gradually breaks out due to the daughter's "escape from poverty" viewpoint. The director said that the crew spent six months surveying and constructing the scene to recreate the image of the salt village. The film also has the participation of artists Hong Van, Viet Anh, Cong Ninh, Minh Luan, Tran Kim Hai, Huynh Bao Ngoc, Tu Tri, and Nam Cha.

The official trailer of the movie "Ma da" has just been introduced by the producer. In addition to the main character played by artist Viet Huong, there is also the appearance of singer Cam Ly.

In the official trailer of "Ghost", the audience experiences creepy feelings when many events happen one after another, mysterious deaths and rumors surrounding the story of "ghost pulling legs".

Viet Huong plays the role of Mrs. Le, a corpse collector who directly witnessed many heartbreaking events that took place in the poor riverside countryside. Mrs. Le was even warned by artist Trung Dan's character that some of the corpses she recovered were caused by "ghosts" with the advice: "You and your family, be careful."

According to artist Viet Huong, before taking on this role, she received practical instruction from people who have decades of experience in retrieving bodies from the river: Uncle Ba Chuc, Uncle Tam Sang...

The movie officially opens on August 16.

Meanwhile, the movie "Getting Rich with Ghosts" aroused curiosity with the image of Lanh (Tuan Tran) and Mr. Dao (Meritorious Artist Hoai Linh) sitting face to face at the table, extremely tense. Lanh glanced at his father with a reproachful expression, but then quickly turned away, not daring to look straight. It seemed like he had just committed some very big sin. This is also the role that marked the return of the male artist.

Director Trung Lun shared: “I used to turn down many opportunities to be a director because I was afraid that I was not capable of handling the job. But Getting Rich with Ghosts came to me as a fate and I felt that this script had enough emotional family stories and new spiritual elements for me to make. Many people often mistakenly think that I am inclined towards comedy films, but in fact, my strength is emotion. I think many people will sympathize and realize some lessons through this film.”

The film is expected to premiere on September 2, 2024, at the same time as Quyen Linh's film.
