The 2025 Rural and Agricultural Census is a large-scale nationwide survey that collects information on agriculture, forestry , fisheries and rural life. The 2025 Census has many new features compared to previous Censuses. Specifically, data will be completed, processed and integrated according to a unified process, improving the quality of statistical work, especially the ability to compare internationally. In addition, the division of areas and the establishment of a list of survey units also have new features; the information collected in the 2025 Census is more than in 2016 to better meet the information needs of the Party, National Assembly , Government, Ministries, and localities on the current situation of agriculture, farmers, rural areas, and the shift in industry structure and rural labor structure.
In particular, the form of information collection is to use electronic survey forms (CAPI and Webform) and online data management methods, to control the progress and quality of the investigation during the information collection process at the site; enhance accountability and centralized data management; shorten the time for information collection compared to paper forms.
These new points aim to improve the effectiveness of the Census, providing more accurate and comprehensive information on agriculture and rural areas, serving management and policy making .
Ms. Tran Thi Tung, Deputy Head of the Provincial Statistics Office, said that the rural and agricultural census is a large-scale survey, collecting information from many types of survey units (households, farms, enterprises, cooperatives, commune People's Committees, etc.), with many complex contents. In this census, the whole province of Ca Mau has 2,180 full survey areas, 166 sample survey areas. Households in rural and urban areas participating in agricultural, forestry and fishery activities are 374,022 households; farms are 605 households. The total number of surveyors participating is 2,343 people, of which 2,102 surveyors conducted the full questionnaire.
The 2025 Rural and Agricultural Census is a large-scale nationwide survey, collecting information on agriculture, forestry, fisheries and rural life.
The 2025 Census will be implemented to collect information from July 1 to July 30. Ms. Tran Thi Tung informed that as of the morning of July 28, investigators had conducted surveys and collected information at 362,847 households, reaching over 97% of households (of which, in the old Ca Mau area, the survey was conducted and information was collected at 214,625 households, reaching 97.39%; in the old Bac Lieu area, 148,222 households were conducted, reaching 95.76%).
Ms. Tran Thi Tung shared that in the first days of implementing the Census, she recognized the enthusiasm, passion and responsibility of the investigators in the field investigation work. However, the time to implement the list preparation work coincided with the time to implement the arrangement of administrative units, while many investigators were cadres of communes, hamlets and quarters, so it affected the progress and quality of the investigation. The time to implement the information collection work and the Census launch ceremony coincided with the time of merging the province, which somewhat affected the progress of the investigation. Some communes subject to the merger had to rearrange the organization of the unit, so the work of perfecting the steering committee was slow...
To overcome these difficulties, the Statistics sector has been proactive and flexible in adapting to the country's major changes in the context of implementing administrative boundary arrangements and converting the operation of the 2-level local government model. Thanks to careful preparation, the work of collecting information in the localities in recent days has been quite favorable, with investigators actively collecting information from households in the area.
Ms. Tran Thi Tung added that the preliminary results of the Census will be announced in December 2025. The official results will be announced in March 2026. Thematic analysis reports will be published in July 2026.
