Mastantuono is Real Madrid's next signing this summer. |
ESPN reports that Real Madrid will have to pay 45 million euros for Mastantuono. The two clubs are still negotiating how the money will be paid. The 17-year-old will sign a six-year contract, running until 2031.
Mastantuono will join Real Madrid in August, after participating in the FIFA Club World Cup with River Plate.
According to ESPN , representatives from Real Madrid were in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to expedite the deal amidst fierce competition from PSG. Mastantuono's preference for a move to the Bernabeu facilitated the negotiations. His representatives temporarily halted talks with PSG and leaned towards Real Madrid.
New Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso wants to sign Mastantuono, who excels as an attacking midfielder and could fill Luka Modric's position in the future. Alonso highly values Mastantuono's vision and ability to threaten opponents from set pieces.
Argentina's national team coach, Lionel Scaloni, has called up Mastantuono for the first time to prepare for the matches against Chile and Colombia in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in South America.
If he plays, Mastantuono could become the youngest player to debut for the Argentina national team in an official match.
Besides signing Mastantuono, Real Madrid is actively negotiating to finalize the deals for Nico Paz (Como) and Alvaro Carreras (Benfica). Previously, the Bernabeu club successfully signed center-back Dean Huijsen.
