On October 14, Deep Robotics (China) officially launched the humanoid robot DR02, marking a remarkable step forward in the industrial robot industry. With its outstanding ability to adapt to the environment, DR02 is considered by experts as "the most durable robot in the world ", opening up potential applications in many harsh outdoor fields.
Unlike current robot lines that are prone to malfunction when operating in harsh conditions, DR02 is completely dustproof and can withstand heavy rain, thanks to its IP66 certification - the highest standard in the humanoid robot group. With this ability, DR02 has surpassed competitors such as Agibot, Unitree Robotics or UBTech, which have not reached the same level of protection.
In terms of design, DR02 is 1.75 m tall and weighs 65 kg, equivalent to an adult. The robot can operate in a temperature range from -20°C to 55°C, move at an average speed of 1.5 m/s, up to 4 m/s when accelerating, and can climb a 20-degree slope or lift a 10 kg object. The robot's arms and legs are designed to be quickly disassembled, helping to reduce maintenance time and component replacement.
According to the announcement from Deep Robotics, DR02 is equipped with 275 TOPS (275 trillion calculations per second) computing power and a multi-layer sensor system including LiDAR, depth sensor and wide-angle camera. This system allows the robot to identify obstacles, map the environment and adjust movements in real time, helping to increase accuracy and safety during operation.
The combination of performance, sensing capabilities and flexibility makes the DR02 the optimal solution for many fields such as security, industrial inspection, logistics, or activities that require equipment to operate outdoors for long periods of time.
“There are many Korean companies, research institutes and universities visiting and working with Deep Robotics every day,” said Mr. Lee Chang-ba, Head of International Business at Deep Robotics. He also emphasized that the company’s robots are 20-30% cheaper than similar products from Boston Dynamics (USA) or Rainbow Robotics (Korea), but still ensure advanced technology on par with each other.
Deep Robotics has previously been known as a leading manufacturer of Jueying quadruped robots, specializing in industrial inspection. With the launch of the DR02, the company officially expanded into the bipedal robot segment - a field that is attracting fierce competition from giants such as Tesla, Figure and Boston Dynamics.
Although the price and battery life have not been announced, the appearance of DR02 is considered a strategic step to help Deep Robotics affirm its position in the global humanoid robot market - a field with an estimated scale of 2 billion USD by 2024 and is growing strongly in the automation era.
