According to ABC News , the incident of a 2-year-old boy falling from the 15th floor of an apartment building and miraculously surviving happened in Montgomery County, Maryland, USA, on the afternoon of May 15. A spokesman for the Montgomery County police said the child fell from the balcony of an apartment on the 15th floor of the building. At that time, the child's parents were in the house.
"The child hit the bushes, which lessened the impact on his body. Age, size and weight are really factors in this case. If he had been heavier, he probably wouldn't have survived. It's truly a miracle," a fire official told ABC News .
The child was seriously injured and taken to a local hospital, according to the Montgomery County Fire Department.
Police are investigating the incident.
Previously, in March 2025, a 9-year-old girl in China was also lucky to survive after falling from the 25th floor to the 7th floor of a building.
The girl's mother, Ms. Shen, said that because she felt hot, she decided to open the window. Unfortunately, the window broke, causing her to fall to the seventh-floor courtyard.
The parents quickly took the girl to a hospital in Beijing, about 200 kilometers away. At Beijing Children's Hospital, the girl was diagnosed with fractures in her arm, frontal bone and thoracic vertebrae. Fortunately, her brain was not damaged.
The girl underwent several surgeries and was discharged after 10 days.
