What experience did North Korean special forces gain at the Kursk front?
The 94th Brigade was one of Pyongyang's forces that participated in the battle at Kursk, so what combat experience did they gain for building the North Korean Army?

Recently, North Korea held a grand ceremony to award medals to the "Overseas Combat Forces" and released a large number of video images and detailed information about the battles of the North Korean army in the Kursk campaign. Thanks to that, the "problem" of evaluating the combat effectiveness of the North Korean army has become more complete. Facts have proven that the success or failure of the battlefield clearly does not depend on rumors or media reports anywhere. After all, no matter how much the combat effectiveness of the North Korean army is downgraded, the defeat of the Ukrainian army (AFU) in Kursk cannot be hidden.
Moreover, there is more and more evidence that the initiative, combat organization, individual combat techniques and fighting spirit of the North Korean army are significantly stronger than those of the Russian and Ukrainian armies. Of course, this is also closely related to the fact that the North Korean army has sent its elite forces. Therefore, when studying and analyzing the combat effectiveness of the North Korean army through the counteroffensive campaign in Kursk, we certainly do not need to rely on information on the Internet from Ukraine or the West. Instead, we should pay more attention to some information revealed internally. In this article, we will review the battle for the village of Plekhovo, the first (large-scale) battle of the North Korean army against the Ukrainian army in a strongly fortified position, and the "Combat Experience and Lessons of the 94th Brigade" drawn by North Korean soldiers, based on this battle. The reason why the outside world can see this document is because the North Korean army did not completely win the battle. In some battles after the Plekhovo battle, some North Korean shock units were surrounded by the Ukrainian army, and even many North Korean soldiers from the 94th Brigade - one of the combat brigades under the 11th Army Corps - were sacrificed. By this time, the 94th Brigade had suffered significant casualties, with several company and platoon commanders killed or wounded. To ensure the progress of the battle, the company commander, deputy company commander, and several staff officers of the 94th Brigade quickly took command of the squad and destroyed the Ukrainian troops in various positions.
Faced with the threat from AFU UAVs, the 94th Brigade developed a tactic of diversion and concentrated attacks on them, shooting down a large number of AFU UAVs. To deal with the threat from artillery fire, the 94th Brigade also focused on using buildings it had just occupied, which significantly reduced casualties. After breaking into the AFU positions, the North Koreans began to clear the Ukrainians house by house. The Ukrainian forces stationed in Plekhovo were also elite, but they were not good at close combat and were constantly being destroyed in battle. Faced with a sustained attack, the defending Ukrainian forces were finally unable to resist the attack of the 94th Brigade and had to retreat from the Plekhovo area. It should be noted that the 94th Brigade also admitted that it did not completely destroy the Ukrainian troops in Plekhovo. According to information revealed by a Russian blogger, the North Korean army killed more than 300 Ukrainian soldiers in Plekhovo. However, the fighting time of this battle was not two or three hours as the Russian side said, but 31 hours. Perhaps the North Korean army also took into account the time for cleaning up and fortification.
After the battle, the 94th North Korean Brigade also learned some combat experiences. First: Keep calm during combat and avoid continuous command transmission that causes delays. Second: Organize the formation to move according to the combat conditions. In densely forested areas, staggered formations are best. In densely populated areas, assault, support and heavy weapons teams must be organized for better coordination and support. Third: Special anti-UAV air defense forces should be organized to concentrate firepower to destroy enemy UAVs when they are detected. Fourth: When enemy reconnaissance UAVs are detected, artillery fire will attack immediately; at that time, it is necessary to quickly hide in basements or other fortified areas to minimize casualties. Fifth: Stay calm when rescuing the injured and extinguish any nearby enemy fire before attempting a rescue; rushing to rescue without considering the situation may result in additional casualties, due to enemy snipers or concentrated fire. Sixth: Do not use tracer rounds to avoid revealing your position and keep your weapons dry. Seventh: While maintaining a 2-3 man combat team during combat operations, the squad must be within the effective command range of the superior. And finally, always be alert to the threats from UAVs and snipers to the commander and heavy weapons operators.
It is important to note that the 94th Brigade's battle summary was completed quickly and disseminated to all levels from squad to brigade, which helped them improve their tactics very quickly. And such summaries will become more numerous and more complete after their withdrawal to North Korea. What we know now is only a small part. (photo source: KCNA, TASS, Ukrinform).
