Ronaldo will not leave Al-Nassr. |
Transfer expert Santi Aouna also confirmed that the Portuguese superstar has reached an agreement to extend his contract with the Saudi Arabian club. Foot Mercato reports that despite previous rumors about Ronaldo's potential departure, the 40-year-old striker has decided to continue his commitment to the club.
Sporting Director Fernando Hierro said: "Cristiano is currently resting for a few days. His contract runs until June 30th. We are working to reach an agreement between the parties. We are certainly trying to keep Ronaldo. The strong support from the whole country will also be a huge motivation for him."
Ronaldo is Al-Nassr's top scorer this season with 35 goals and 4 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. He will continue to be a key player in the team's development plan as the club prepares for an important board meeting next Sunday at the Royal Abdullah Financial District (KAFD).
The meeting focused on three main issues: deciding on the renewal or replacement of board members, a thorough review of the first team's performance, and the budget and fixture plan for the upcoming season. In addition, the club's structure, including the future of its various sporting departments, was also considered.
Ronaldo's decision to remain with Al-Nassr comes amidst a period of organizational upheaval within the club. However, this further strengthens the club's ambition to retain its number one star, placing him at the center of its future development plans.
