Proactively connect and expand the market

Japan is facing a rapidly aging population and labor shortage. The country is employing about 2.3 million foreign workers, the highest number ever, to maintain the economic development machine. Of these, Vietnamese workers play an important role, accounting for nearly 25%, with more than half a million people working in many different fields.

According to forecasts, Japan still needs millions of foreign workers to maintain growth. Since the beginning of the year, the Department of Internal Affairs has actively implemented many international cooperation activities to seek and expand quality job markets in Japan. One of the key activities was the recent working trip to Nagasaki province, where the Da Nang delegation worked directly with local departments and branches to promote cooperation in sending Vietnamese workers to work.

The areas of cooperation that are focused on are high-tech agriculture , tourism, healthcare, food processing, etc. Mr. Nguyen Qui Quy, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs, said that these are industries that not only help workers have stable jobs and good income, but also open up opportunities to learn advanced technology and modern working methods, contributing to improving the quality of human resources for the city.

A notable highlight of the business trip to Nagasaki was the meeting with the leaders of Musashino Group, Japan's leading corporation in the field of industrial food processing (providing up to 3.7 million meals per day).

It is known that many workers from Da Nang have been with this corporation for more than 3 years and are highly appreciated for their diligence, learning spirit and responsibility at work.

Mr. Tokiwa Akio, President of Musashino Food Group said: “We highly appreciate the daily efforts and contributions of our employees, including those from Da Nang. The Group wishes to continue to strengthen cooperation and recruitment of workers in Vietnam and will provide appropriate remuneration for employees to develop their abilities, building an increasingly professional and better working environment.”

Strengthen support and long-term cooperation

According to the general assessment from relevant parties, promoting the export of local labor to the Japanese market is not only aimed at finding immediate job opportunities, but also towards the long-term goal of improving the quality of human resources, especially in rural areas.

In recent years, Japan has been one of the main labor export markets for rural and mountainous areas of Da Nang. It is estimated that from 2022 to mid-2025, more than 5,300 workers from this area will come to work in the Japanese market.

According to Mr. Ikeda Hideto, Chairman of the International Labor Management (IPM) Japan Public Interest Corporation, the characteristics of most companies in Japan are safety, reliability and an efficient, pleasant working environment.

“Currently, there are many Vietnamese people living and working in Japan, mainly under the status of resident, technical intern and specific skills (a type of resident status in Japan that allows skilled foreign workers to work in Japan in industries that are experiencing a labor shortage).”

Mr. Ikeda Hideto added that to support workers, IPM has implemented a Japanese language support program for all workers. Improving Japanese will help the work process be more effective and adapt to life better. In addition, being fluent in Japanese will also be a useful skill for you to find good job opportunities in the future.

In recent years, the relevant parties have had many connections and signed memoranda of understanding on human resources cooperation, including policies to support the introduction, reception, and training of interns and workers from Da Nang to work in Japan.

Mr. Nguyen Qui Quy said that, based on the old cooperation, the parties will continue to connect and expand job opportunities for local workers. At the same time, promote and organize more job floors to provide maximum support for local workers who want to work in Japan.
