My Dinh Stadium is green again

After a series of yellowing and undulating grass fields that affected the quality of matches, My Dinh Stadium has been given a new coat of paint. The grass has become smooth and green thanks to planting, maintenance and upkeep.

Renovating My Dinh Stadium to make it more beautiful and spacious is also a step to serve the cultural and artistic programs to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification, to foster and foster patriotism among the masses. Or further, changing the look of My Dinh is also a necessary condition to improve the quality of Vietnamese football.

At the AFF Cup 2024, the Vietnamese team played at Viet Tri Stadium because My Dinh Stadium did not meet the standards. My Dinh Stadium is currently the home ground of The Cong Viettel Club in the V-League.

Current status of My Dinh Stadium grass on the morning of April 22, 2025

On April 3, the Government Office issued a document conveying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's direction on the plan to effectively exploit My Dinh Stadium.

Accordingly, the Prime Minister assigned the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism to urgently direct research and develop a plan to exploit My Dinh Stadium, ensuring effective exploitation and avoiding waste and degradation.

According to the sports industry, in 2025, My Dinh Stadium will receive 8 billion VND from the state to repair the grass surface. It is expected that the entire grass surface will be repaired and the foundation will be redone. The current grass surface has 20 layers, and in the near future, it will be dug up 40-50 layers to completely renew it. In addition, the water spraying system will also be upgraded to ensure moisture retention. The sports industry also aims to carry out maintenance work regularly to ensure the quality of the field despite the harsh weather conditions in the North.

However, in the long run, the story of My Dinh Stadium does not stop at turf maintenance, which is the "tip of the iceberg" of long-standing problems.

New step for My Dinh to be worthy of national sports complex

My Dinh National Sports Complex currently owes nearly 1,000 billion VND in taxes and is unable to pay. The original land rental debt (2009-2018) is 484.1 billion VND, in addition to late payment fees and corporate income tax debt.

In mid-2024, My Dinh National Sports Complex lost the lawsuit and had to pay more than 10 billion VND for failing to fulfill its contractual obligations with a business.

The Prime Minister has asked the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to propose a plan to operate the complex more effectively.

Most likely, the sports industry will aim to propose core issues, such as prioritizing the allocation of medium- and long-term public investment capital to synchronously invest in the missing works according to the approved planning of the project such as indoor sports area; cycling track; hotel area, sports services, offices for rent; national golf training area, athlete accommodation area... to synchronize the works, ensuring the implementation of assigned functions and tasks. At the same time, adjusting the planning and land use at the national sports complex, resolving outstanding investment cooperation contracts with enterprises...

To make My Dinh Stadium worthy of its stature as a national sports facility, it requires the cooperation of ministries and branches, along with long-term strategic thinking.
