The traditional buffalo fighting festival in Hai Luu commune, Song Lo district is one of the festivals with a long history, attracting a large number of people and tourists from all over the country to attend. In recent years, the local Party Committee and government of Vinh Phuc province have had many solutions to preserve and promote cultural identity, organize safe and appropriate festivals, contributing to promoting tourism and service development of the province.
This year, there are 20 Cau who participated in the Hai Luu Buffalo Fighting Festival . These Cau were carefully searched and selected by buffalo owners from many provinces such as Tuyen Quang, Yen Bai, Nghe An, Lao Cai , and even went to Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand to buy fighting buffalo. The purchased buffaloes must be given special care, fed with elephant grass, molasses, rice bran, and corn bran. Fighting buffaloes cannot be kept in captivity for long, and must be taken out every day to fight, butt against bushes, and train in fighting moves with the hope of bringing the audience exciting competitions.
This year, Hai Luu commune continues to implement the Project to innovate the management and organization of buffalo fighting festivals; organize festivals in accordance with history and traditional culture. Accordingly, the work of ensuring security and safety is given special attention, the functional forces actively participate in maintaining security and order, traffic flow, preventing theft and pickpocketing. The local government and functional agencies strictly manage the area where buffaloes are slaughtered as well as the places where people sell buffalo meat, ensuring hygiene and food safety, avoiding confusion between buffalo meat and normal buffalo meat.
The buffalo fighting festival in Hai Luu commune, Song Lo district is held on the 16th and 17th of the first lunar month every year. Taking place in the joyful atmosphere of the first days of Spring, the Hai Luu Buffalo Fighting Festival not only brings joy to the community but is also an opportunity to review heroic traditions, foster martial spirit and contributeto educating love for the homeland and country.
