Cave collapse in Bac Kan, 2 people trapped, 1 victim's location unknown

On July 1, information from the People's Committee of Bac Kan province said that at about 4:30 p.m. on June 30, in Lien Ket village (Hiep Luc commune, Ngan Son district, Bac Kan), a cave collapse occurred.

Upon receiving the information, the Provincial People's Committee directed functional forces to inspect, grasp the situation and deploy rescue operations.

According to the People's Committee of Bac Kan province, the location of the collapsed cave is halfway up the mountain, about 500m from the road.

When the landslide occurred, there were 3 men in the cave. 1 local person escaped and broke his arm. He is currently being treated at Bac Kan Provincial General Hospital.

Two people were trapped inside, including Mr. Ma Van T. (39 years old, residing in Thuan Mang market, Ngan Son district) and Mr. Trieu Van X. (39 years old, residing in Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province).

The People's Committee of Bac Kan province has directed military and police forces to go to the area to directly inspect and grasp the situation, and at the same time mobilize forces to participate in the rescue.

Rescue operations encountered many difficulties due to the cave's rugged terrain and difficult access roads, making it impossible to use excavators, cranes, etc. for rescue. In addition, the amount of landslides at the cave entrance was large, with large rocks (more than ^100m3 ).

At 11:20 p.m. on June 30, the rescue team brought Mr. Trieu Van X. out, conscious, talking normally, with no injuries.

However, Mr. Ma Van T.'s location is still unknown. Currently, rescue forces continue to use hydraulic jacks to lift rocks and carry out manual digging measures to search for victims.
