Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense, today chaired a meeting with agencies and units to deploy the construction of a monument to soldiers from countries who helped Vietnam in the resistance wars at the Vietnam Military History Museum on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, September 2.
This is an important project, to commemorate and show gratitude to experts and soldiers from other countries who helped Vietnam in the wars of national liberation.

The project has a common symbol of the help and sacrifice of military experts from various countries, made of bronze and created by Vietnam; a monument to military experts from the Soviet Union/Russian Federation, China, Laos, Cambodia, and Cuba. This symbol is made of bronze, designed and constructed by the countries or constructed by Vietnam at the request of the countries.
There is also a relief made of monolithic green stone, designed and constructed by Vietnam. Surrounding the project are green trees and grass.
Implementing the conclusion of the Head of the Ministry of National Defense and the direction of the Head of the General Department of Politics , the Propaganda Department coordinated with the Vietnam Military History Museum and the Department of Foreign Affairs to invite leading domestic sculpting experts to research and prepare sketches of statues of 5 countries: the Soviet Union/Russian Federation, China, Laos, Cambodia, Cuba; at the same time, provided sketches of statues to seek comments from the countries.
Regarding construction preparation, the Head of the General Department of Politics has directed relevant agencies and units to organize cleaning, complete leveling, and fill the road (about 150 m long, 5 m wide); at the same time, concentrate materials, human resources, machinery, and equipment, and be ready to deploy when ordered.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien acknowledged and commended the efforts of agencies and units, especially the Propaganda Department, the Vietnam Military History Museum and the Foreign Affairs Department.
The Deputy Minister requested to speed up the construction progress of the project, completing the first cluster of statues before August 15. In addition, the entrance area and the central campus, where the statues are displayed, also need to be completed before August 10.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien requested the Foreign Affairs Department to continue to follow up, communicate, and promote so that countries can soon give feedback on the statue sketches, thereby promptly implementing the next steps according to plan.
