Many weapons tested successfully, improving self-reliance in defense technology

On October 20, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense held a conference on military science, technology and engineering work for the third quarter of 2025.

In the third quarter of 2025, the Ministry of National Defence's military science, technology, and engineering work was implemented synchronously, closely adhering to the resolutions and conclusions of the Party, the Central Military Commission, and the strategies and plans of the Government and the Ministry of National Defence on science, technology, environment, and innovation in the Army; effectively serving the tasks of training, combat readiness, technical support, and modernization of the Army. Projects and research topics were accelerated, with many research and testing products successfully implemented and effectively applied, contributing to enhancing national defence technology self-reliance.

Scientific research management activities are carried out rigorously and systematically, in accordance with strategic direction and the requirements of military development. Agencies and units proactively adjust plans, manage progress and quality of research projects, focusing on fundamental technologies, core technologies, and new technologies that directly serve military and national defense tasks. Acceptance and evaluation processes are conducted seriously, linking research, production, and application.

In his remarks at the conference, Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh acknowledged and commended the efforts of agencies and units in innovating, proactively researching, and applying scientific and technological advancements to serve military and national defense tasks.

The Deputy Minister of National Defense requested that in the coming period, the entire army should continue to thoroughly understand the resolutions and directives of the Party, the State, and the Central Military Commission on the development of science, technology, and the national defense industry; focus on implementing key research programs and projects; and promote technology transfer and the application of research results into the production, repair, and maintenance of weapons and technical equipment.

General Le Huy Vinh requested that agencies and units focus on reviewing all science and technology tasks for 2025, promptly advising and proposing solutions to overcome difficulties and obstacles to ensure progress, quality, and effectiveness. He also urged the acceleration of the deployment, completion, and commissioning of the military science database, ensuring synchronization and connectivity to serve the guidance, management, and application throughout the military. Furthermore, he called for close coordination with relevant ministries and agencies in developing and perfecting the system of legal documents on science and technology, creating a unified and consistent legal framework.

Emphasizing the spirit of "substance, urgency, and effectiveness" in task implementation, considering this a consistent requirement to improve the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of military science, technology, and engineering work, Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh requested that agencies and units continue to strongly innovate working methods and styles, ensuring scientific, effective, and practical approaches to tasks. This includes resolutely eliminating old, formalistic, mechanical, and slow-adaptive working methods, replacing them with flexible management methods, applying information technology, and digital transformation in the management, operation, research, and implementation of military science, technology, and environmental tasks within the Army, meeting the requirements and tasks of national construction and defense in the new situation.
