The Party Committee and command of Regiment 5 determined that for sustainable production and trade to be successful, there must be coordinated leadership, and the unit's leader must set an example. Therefore, in recent years, the Regiment's Party Committee has issued specialized resolutions, and the commanders have clearly defined goals, targets, and solutions in the direction of "focused, scientific , effective, and long-term" in organizing production and trade.
Lieutenant Colonel Do The Anh, Political Commissar of Regiment 5, emphasized: To make agricultural production effective and thorough, unit leaders and commanders must work alongside the soldiers, "going down to the gardens and into the barns," and thoroughly understand each step and stage of the agricultural production process. When officers get involved, the soldiers not only gain more motivation but also understand their responsibilities in carrying out this important work. If it is simply "outsourced" to subordinates or the logistics department, agricultural production cannot achieve high results.

Accordingly, the Party Committee and command of Regiment 5 directed units to build and consolidate agricultural production models in a modern and sustainable direction. Subordinate units proactively planned agricultural production areas suitable to the soil, climate, and needs of each period. A prime example is the agricultural production model at Battalion 4, with a total area of over 10,000 m², where the unit has planned areas for growing vegetables, fruits, raising livestock and poultry, and fish farming in a scientific and efficient manner.
Major Doan Tan Huy, Battalion Commander of Battalion 4, shared his secret: "We focus on intercropping, ensuring an abundant supply of vegetables, fruits, meat, and fish, with seasonal produce available. For livestock farming, the unit prioritizes everything from selecting breeding stock and providing scientific care to disease prevention. Therefore, raising livestock and poultry not only yields high productivity but also ensures a supply of clean meat for the mess hall."
A highlight of the 5th Regiment is the close integration of production and logistics work with the building of a standardized and culturally rich environment. The emulation movement in the logistics sector is closely linked to the revolutionary action movements of the youth union on "promoting the energy of youth to build a bright, green, clean, and beautiful unit," transforming gardens, fish ponds, and livestock pens not only into economically efficient spaces but also creating harmonious landscapes and a healthy environment for soldiers to live and work in.
Lieutenant Colonel Bui Thanh Tung, Head of Logistics and Technical Services of Regiment 5, said: "To improve productivity and quality, we direct and guide units to strengthen the application of science and technology in agricultural production, such as producing and using EM and IMO biological products in the treatment of organic waste, improving soil in agricultural production, and limiting environmental pollution. Currently, the Regiment is 100% self-sufficient in green vegetables and largely self-sufficient in poultry and fish. The cost of food supplied to the kitchen is lower than the market price, helping to improve the quality of meals, balance nutrition, and ensure the health of the soldiers. From clean food sources, the Regiment also produces tofu, bean sprouts, and processes bananas using new technology, enriching the daily menu. Especially, the soldiers directly produce and directly benefit from the products, so everyone feels proud and enthusiastic."
With the right direction, innovative methods, and high consensus among officers and soldiers, Regiment 5 has built a self-reliant and sustainable logistics system; contributing to improving the material and spiritual lives of the troops, creating a foundation for the unit to excellently complete all tasks.
