The much-anticipated clash between teenage talents Estevao Willian and Lamine Yamal at Stamford Bridge ended in a very clear script. One side shone, the other “disappeared”. Estevao exploded, leading Chelsea to a 3-0 victory over Barcelona, while Yamal and most of his teammates could only quietly endure the defeat.
In the 55th minute, after a sprint that eliminated two Barca defenders, Estevao fired a powerful shot into the roof of the net from a very narrow angle, raising the score to 2-0, a goal that made Stamford Bridge explode. Before that, Chelsea opened the score in the 27th minute thanks to an early own goal from the away team, and Liam Delap closed out the perfect match day with the third goal in the 73rd minute.
In the “one-sided” first half, Estevao pressed relentlessly, constantly creating breakthroughs and causing Barca’s defense to falter, unfortunately missing a number of opportunities. When Barca were down to 10 men at the end of the half, the 18-year-old had more space to show off his talent.
After the super product that made social networks boil, Estevao admitted that this was the best moment in his very young career: "I really don't know what to say - a perfect night", the young Brazilian talent shared.
“Everything happened so fast. I just dribbled past them and finished. I hope to score more goals like that. This is definitely the most special moment of my career. It was even more fun having my family in the stands,” Estevao said.

Coach Enzo Maresca tried to keep his composure amid the excitement surrounding his player, but he had to admit that the cannon shot was a masterpiece. “It was a great win, especially against Barcelona, but it doesn’t change who we are,” said coach Maresca. “Estevao played fantastic, not only because of the goal but also because of the way he pressed.”
Coach Maresca even compared this goal to the superb goal Estevao scored against Chelsea when he was playing for Palmeiras at the Club World Cup in July. "Same style of handling, same feeling for the ball, it's unbelievable," he emphasized.
While Estevao was chanted from the stands, Yamal was withdrawn towards the end of the match after a lacklustre performance, although in fairness he wasn't the only Barca player to underperform.
When asked if Estevao reminded him of Messi, coach Maresca immediately dismissed the idea: “He and Lamine are both only 18 years old. If you compare them to Messi or Ronaldo now, there is too much pressure,” he said. “At 18, they both need to enjoy football, go to training with enthusiasm. Putting them next to Messi or Ronaldo at this time is unfair.”
