A day of golden opportunity
A golden opportunity continues to present itself to Vietnamese sports after two relatively quiet days at the 33rd SEA Games. With the highlight being the final day of athletics, rowing events, and the martial arts finals – kickboxing, Muay Thai, boxing – Vietnamese sports are hoping to make a breakthrough on the overall medal table.
After 6 days of competition, the Vietnamese sports delegation won a total of 40 gold medals, but on December 16 alone, we had nearly 40 opportunities to compete for the top ranking.

Nguyen Thi Oanh will achieve a hat-trick of gold medals.
In athletics, "gold medal hopeful" Nguyen Thi Oanh has the opportunity to complete a hat-trick of gold medals in the 3,000m steeplechase. "Iron Warrior" Hoang Thanh Giang is close to winning a medal in the heptathlon and is competing for gold. Nguyen Trung Cuong's 10,000m men's race and the two 4 x 400m relay events for men and women still have a strong chance of winning gold.

Ha Thi Linh (in blue gloves) dreams of the first gold medal for boxing.
Ngo Ngoc Linh Chi and Ha Thi Linh compete in the boxing semi-finals; Hoang Thuy Giang, Nguyen Dinh Minh Khue, and Nguyen Quang Huy participate in three Muay Thai finals; pencak silat fighters compete in 10 semi-final matches across various weight categories; archers Le Quoc Phong and Loc Thi Dao take to the field, while Phung Thi Khanh Linh, Cao Minh Quang, Pham Thi Thu Hoai, and Nguyen Phuong Kim compete in foil and sabre events…

Triathlon takes off
Shooting, triathlon, weightlifting, cycling, and chess all have important finals on the competition day where the Vietnamese team must compete for medals to improve their performance.
