Immediately after receiving feedback about teachers at Van Yen Secondary School (Ha Dong District) giving extra lessons outside the school to students they were teaching, on the afternoon of April 25, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training sent a document requesting the Ha Dong District Department of Education and Training to check and verify the information.
The Department of Education and Training is required to strictly handle violations (if any) according to regulations and report the results in writing to the Department before April 28.
Previously, on the afternoon of April 24, during a surprise inspection at a tutoring facility about 100 meters from the school, the leadership of Van Yen Secondary School discovered that some teachers of the school were directly tutoring their own students.
According to Circular 29 on extra teaching and learning issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, effective from February 14, teachers are not allowed to teach extra classes outside of school for money to students they are assigned to teach according to the school's education plan.
Thus, in the past few days, there have been continuous reports related to illegal extra teaching and learning at off-campus facilities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Specifically, yesterday, April 24, after verifying information from the press, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training stopped the operation of a tutoring center for 600 students in Dong Da district.
In Ho Chi Minh City, a calligraphy class at Thanh Da Cultural House was also recently suspended after authorities discovered that the teacher was illegally teaching cultural subjects to elementary school students.
