On October 4, the Department of Education and Training of Hung Yen province organized a workshop with the topic "Solutions to overcome the problem of mispronouncing and misspelled initial consonants L - N in educational institutions". The workshop was held directly at the Department of Education and Training and connected online to more than 1,700 educational institutions, with nearly 41,000 managers and teachers participating.

Mr. Pham Dong Thuy, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Hung Yen province, said that standard Vietnamese pronunciation is an important foundation of language education, contributing to preserving the purity of Vietnamese, building a standard school environment and fostering love for Vietnamese.

Standard pronunciation also contributes to improving the quality of comprehensive education, aiming at the goal of building a standard, friendly, and unique Hung Yen educational environment.

According to Mr. Thuy, the survey shows that this error is quite common, especially in preschool and primary schools, affecting students' language ability, learning outcomes and confidence.

Dr. Luong Thu Hien, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Literature ( Hanoi National University of Education), and staff and teachers exchanged practical experiences at the workshop.

Mr. Thuy said that, fully aware of the importance of the problem, the Department of Education and Training of Hung Yen has issued a plan to overcome the problem of mispronouncing the two initial consonants L - N for all cadres, teachers and students in the period 2025 - 2030 and launched a widespread and comprehensive movement in all levels of education in the whole province.

The goal for the period 2025 - 2026 is that 80% of staff and teachers will overcome pronunciation errors; 50% of students will significantly improve their pronunciation and spelling errors. In the period 2027 - 2030, 100% of teachers will pronounce correctly and 80% of students will no longer make this mistake.

At the workshop, Dr. Luong Thu Hien, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Literature (Hanoi National University of Education), provided basic scientific knowledge, answered questions and shared practical experiences on methods of organizing activities to practice pronunciation and spelling L - N suitable for each level of education, helping managers and teachers apply them effectively in teaching practice, contributing to improving the quality of language education in the whole industry.

Dr. Hien said that in the coming time, she and the team of experts from Hanoi National University of Education will deploy specific programs to support overcoming the confusion of the two initial consonants L and N in the direction of "holding hands and showing how to do it", helping the Department of Education and Training of Hung Yen complete the goal of striving for 100% of staff and teachers in educational institutions in the province to pronounce these two consonants correctly and accurately by 2030.
