Billiards: Vietnamese player makes a big series, comes from behind to defeat PBA champion

Vietnamese player Ma Minh Cam and his teammates played excellently and made timely series, thereby defeating strong opponents and helping NH Pay team win the final victory against SK Direct team.

In the match of round 8, the fourth leg of the PBA Team League 2025-2026 billiards tournament taking place on November 23 in Korea, NH Pay team (of Ma Minh Cam) faced SK Direct team (of Ngo Dinh Nai). The first match (men's doubles) was a confrontation between two Vietnamese players, when the pair Ma Minh Cam/Antonio Montes competed against the pair Eddy Leppens/Ngo Dinh Nai. In which, Eddy Leppens (Belgium) is a very strong player, having won the PBA Tour twice.

SK Direct took the lead and Eddy Leppens was the first player to serve the first shot of the match. Leppens and Ngo Dinh Nai were the better pair to start the game, scoring consistently and taking an 8/3 lead after 3 shots.

Ma Minh Cam ended the game with three accurate a-bangs.

The surprise came in the 4th turn, when Ngo Dinh Nai almost had a "kobayashi" reverse shot. It was a pity that the cue ball was on the right trajectory, but stopped when it was only 1 millimeter away from the target ball. It was even more regrettable that right after this situation, the SK Direct pair were turned around by their opponents.

Ma Minh Cam has shown great form recently. In the most recent PBA Tour stage, the player born in 1975 finished as runner-up.

Facing the "glasses" image left by Ngo Dinh Nai, Ma Minh Cam accurately a-bang to score 2 points, opening the way for NH Pay's comeback. Minh Cam and Montes coordinated to score a series of 8 points, helping the home team win 11/8 in the first set. Notably, in this series of 8, the Vietnamese player made 3 a-bang shots (bringing home 6 points).

A smooth start by Ma Minh Cam and Montes also opened up a dramatic final victory with a score of 4-3 for NH Pay. In this match, Minh Cam continued to play in the third set (men's singles), but the Vietnamese player lost with a score of 5/15 to Kang Dong-koong (Korea).

The fourth round of the 2025-2026 PBA Team League has only one round left, so Ma Minh Cam's NH Pay team certainly cannot win the championship. Ma Minh Cam and his teammates still have a chance in the fifth (final) round, thereby nurturing the hope of winning a ticket to the final round of the season.
