The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has just issued guidelines on determining the professional duties of education and training officials during the summer break. This guideline is intended to serve as a basis for calculating the actual number of working days and additional income, effective from July 1, 2025.
According to the Department of Education and Training, this regulation is based on the regulations of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Department of Home Affairs on evaluating work quality and paying additional income.
According to the above instructions, only contents and activities directly related to teaching and learning in schools will be considered and recognized as professional tasks.
Accordingly, heads of public service units are responsible for assigning tasks and must ensure the following regulations: Assignment must be made public, clearly stating responsibilities.
Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training stipulates that activities considered as professional tasks during summer vacation include:
Teaching and learning activities with direct and specific products: Admissions (except for exam support activities, promotion and introduction)

According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, this instruction is intended as a basis for calculating the actual number of working days and paying additional income for teachers.
Mandatory activities serving teaching and learning tasks: Training, professional development, and skills directly related to teaching according to the plan of competent authorities
Activities that are not considered summer professional activities for purposes of calculating overtime income include:
Activities that have not been approved or recognized: Activities that are not included in the plan or direction of the competent authority; activities that last from the school year to the summer due to subjective errors (except in cases of force majeure); or voluntary activities, self-responsible by the unit with other organizations and individuals.
Activities not directly related to teaching and learning tasks: Including Party work, mass organizations, extracurricular activities, movements, volunteering, social work related to local authorities or activities to overcome shortcomings due to subjective errors of teachers and lecturers.
