Lao Cai Provincial Department of Home Affairs works with Taebaek City, Gangwon Province, South Korea

On the afternoon of April 14, 2025, Mr. Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Lao Cai province, received and worked with the Working Group of Taebaek city, Gangwon province, Korea, led by Mr. Jeon Kwang Il , Chairman of the Future Strategy Committee of Taebaek city, on the exchange, connection, and cooperation in sending workers in the province to work seasonally in Taebaek city, Gangwon province, Korea according to Resolution No. 59/NQ-CP dated April 27, 2022 of the Government on continuing to pilot sending Vietnamese workers to work seasonally in Korea in the form of cooperation between localities of the two countries. This is a cooperation program between Vietnamese localities and Korean localities in the form of non-profit.

At the meeting, the two sides introduced the general socio-economic situation of Lao Cai province, as well as Taebaek city . The Korean delegation proposed the content of exchange, connection, and cooperation in sending seasonal workers to Taebaek city, Gangwon province, Korea. Accordingly, the Korean side proposed the following contents: Firstly, discuss the scale of inviting seasonal workers , the first phase is expected to send about 20-30 workers; Secondly, discuss the conditions and standards of workers working in Korea, the work of workers going to work in Korea is harvesting agricultural products (cabbage to make kimchi); working time in Korea is from May to October every year (about 6 months, depending on the agreement); Thirdly, discuss measures to prevent illegal escape of workers .

Also at the meeting, the Lao Cai Provincial Department of Home Affairs requested the Korean side to coordinate in the management of Lao Cai province's workers going to Korea to work, and requested the Korean Government to soon establish bilateral relations to send Lao Cai province's workers to work in Korea as soon as possible.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides also agreed on a number of contents to exchange, connect and cooperate in sending workers from Lao Cai province to work seasonally in Korea in the form of cooperation between localities of the two countries . It is expected that after this meeting, the two sides will agree on the contents of the agreement and report to the People's Committee of Lao Cai province, proceed to sign an agreement with Taebaek city, Gangwon province, Korea. sending workers of Lao Cai province to work seasonally in Korea. /.
