Tottenham ended their 17-year title drought with a 1-0 win over Manchester United to win the 2024-25 Europa League.
Brennan Johnson became the hero when he scored the only goal in the 42nd minute to help Tottenham reach the top of the European arena.
This victory not only helped Tottenham salvage a disappointing season but also officially secured a place in next season's Champions League.
However, on the day of the award, a rare incident happened to defending champion Tottenham, specifically captain Son Heung-min.
As Spurs lined up to collect their medals, UEFA did not have enough for the entire squad, leaving Son Heung-min, who later lifted the trophy, without even a medal to wear around his neck for the historic moment.
Meanwhile, the eight referees who officiated the final received all their medals. Even James Maddison, who did not play due to injury and only went down to the pitch to celebrate with the team after the match, received a medal.
According to British media, other Spurs pillars Rodrigo Bentancur and Cristian Romero also did not have medals like Son Heung Min.

The incident happened but that could not stop Son Heung-min and his teammates from celebrating the Europa League championship - the title they had been waiting for for the past 17 years.
This is the first club title of Son's career. Before the Europa League, the Korean star had to regret losing twice in the 2019 Champions League final and the 2021 English League Cup.
"This is a dream I've cherished all my life," Son Heung-min said after winning the title. "I'm truly the happiest person in the world ."
"There were difficult moments throughout the season but we were always together. I really wanted this title and now it has come true."
With what he has shown, Son Heung-min will likely continue to be expected to play for Tottenham next season, especially when they participate in the Champions League.
Along with Tottenham, English football will have 5 more teams participating in the most prestigious European club tournament in the 2025-26 season, thereby making history when for the first time there are 6 teams from one country participating in the most prestigious European club tournament.
Previously, thanks to the excellent performance of the clubs in the European Cup this season, the Premier League was sure to be in the top 2 of the UEFA coefficient rankings for national championships, thereby receiving an additional place.
