Focus on thorough preparation
On the afternoon of May 30, the Organizing Committee of the AVC Women's Volleyball Nations Cup 2025 officially announced the professional preparations and the tournament schedule. A representative of Dong Anh Stadium (Hanoi) said that at this time, the preparation of facilities and equipment has been ensured to serve the participating teams.
Head coach of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team Nguyen Tuan Kiet said: "The Vietnamese women's volleyball team has been professionally trained for over a month in Quang Ninh . We are actively preparing carefully. In this training session, the team has added fitness expert Karl Lim (Australia), so the exercises are diverse and above all, we must do a good job of initial physical preparation. We will face a lot of pressure when competing at home in the AVC Women's Volleyball Nations Cup 2025. The team's goal when competing at home this time is that the players must try their best. We aim to defend the No. 1 position we are holding. However, each match is decisive and the teams are well prepared, so the Vietnamese players must not lose focus."
Vice President of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation Tran Duc Phan said that this is an Asian-level tournament, so the preparation work is the most thorough. At the same time, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation always has a bonus for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team when competing in the tournament. The bonus will be calculated when the team competes in the tournament and based on the results achieved.

Be confident but not subjective
The 2025 AVC Women's Volleyball Nations Cup will feature 11 teams: Australia, India, Chinese Taipei, Iran, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, Mongolia, New Zealand, the Philippines and Vietnam. Each group will play a round-robin tournament to determine points and select four teams to advance to the quarterfinals. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team is currently the defending champion of the tournament, having won the title twice in a row in 2023 and 2024.
According to the draw results, the host team Vietnam is in Group A with opponents Australia, Taiwan (China), India and Hong Kong (China). This group has only 5 teams, less than Group B - which brings together teams from Kazakhstan, Philippines, Indonesia, Iran, New Zealand and Mongolia. This is considered an easy group for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. Looking at the head-to-head record of the teams in recent tournaments, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team can confidently defend the "queen title" when they both won against India and Taiwan (China). At the AVC Challenge Cup 2024 - the predecessor of the AVC Nations Cup - the Vietnamese team defeated Hong Kong (China) 3-0 in the group stage and beat Australia 3-0 in the semi-finals, before winning the championship.

However, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet said that the teams participating in the tournament are all important opponents, so even though we are the host, we are very focused, respectful of our opponents and carefully prepare professionally. Although we may have won all of their recent matches, when competing, it also depends on the psychological factor. So before the match takes place, the chances are divided equally between the teams 50-50.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet shared that the list of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team participating in this tournament includes: Main attacker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Nhu Quynh, Nguyen Thi Uyen, Nguyen Thi Phuong; opposite setters Bich Tuyen, Kieu Trinh; middle blockers Nguyen Trinh, Le Thanh Thuy, Bich Thuy, Pham Thi Hien; setters Lam Oanh, Kim Thoa and liberos Khanh Dang, Ly Ly.
“The whole team is concentrating hard for this continental tournament. The whole team will travel from Quang Ninh to Dong Anh Stadium (Hanoi) on June 1. Here, the team will practice early to get familiar with the field before participating in the AVC Women's Volleyball Nations Cup 2025,” said coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet.
The AVC Women's Volleyball Nations Cup 2025 will take place from June 7 to 14 at Dong Anh Stadium (Hanoi). This is the first time Vietnam has hosted this tournament with the coordination between the Vietnam Volleyball Federation and the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC). According to the plan, in early June, AVC representatives will conduct a final inspection of the facilities at the stadium to ensure conditions for organizing the tournament.
