The Australian's 26 points from his opening 10 games is the best return of any new manager in Premier League history. At Crystal Palace, after a stalemate in the first 45 minutes, Tottenham came alive at the start of the second half when Joel Ward scored an own goal and Son Heung-min scored to give Spurs the win. Jordan Ayew pulled the hosts back in stoppage time but it was not enough to save the Eagles from defeat.
Son Heung-min (middle) continues to shine
Since Tottenham last won the English championship in the 1960-1961 season, this is the first time the London team has had such an advantage in the top flight of English football - topping the table and temporarily 5 points ahead of the second-placed team, Man City.
A title challenge remains a distant possibility, but without the drain of European competition, Postecoglou’s side can focus on the domestic campaign. However, the former Celtic boss was not entirely satisfied with his side’s performance despite the win. It took the visitors 45 minutes to find their rhythm.
Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has been one of the unsung heroes of Spurs' fine start to the season. The Italian made a number of saves for Tottenham at Selhurst Park.
The signing of James Maddison has been the catalyst for Tottenham's transformation under Postecoglou, despite losing the club's record goalscorer Harry Kane to Bayern Munich. Maddison was responsible for both goals against Crystal Palace.

In addition, Son Heung-min was another catalyst to help Tottenham rise with his 8th goal of the season. The Korean star striker seems to be gradually escaping the pressure of scoring duties left by Harry Kane.
Son Heung-min is the best player in the Premier League so far. The 31-year-old striker just scored and assisted to help Tottenham consolidate their top position with a 2-0 victory over Fulham in round 9.
