Reliable sources told BBC Sports that Tottenham's board have agreed to let Daniel Levy leave his position, believing the change will lead to greater sporting success for the team.
Daniel Levy was appointed in March 2001 and left after the club won the Europa League last May, ending a 17-year wait for silverware. The 63-year-old is the Premier League's longest-serving chairman and earned an estimated £50m during his tenure.
However, he has also been a frequent target of protests from Tottenham fans, especially last season. Daniel Levy will leave immediately and without notice.
According to the British press, Daniel Levy is known in the football world as a wise executive and a tough negotiator. He said he will continue to support Tottenham even though he is no longer in a leadership role.
“I am incredibly proud of the work I have done with the executive team and all the staff,” he said. “We have built this club into a global force, competing at the highest level.
I have been very lucky to work with some of the best people in the sport, from the staff at Lilywhite House and Hotspur Way to all the players and coaches over the years.
I would like to thank all the fans who have supported me over the years. It has not always been an easy journey, but there has been significant progress. I will continue to support this club passionately."
