The Vietnamese women's team asserted its strength as the defending champion.
In the first match, the Vietnamese women's team easily defeated the Malaysian team with a score of 7-0 while the Philippine team unexpectedly lost 1-2 to the Myanmar team. Therefore, the encounter between the Vietnamese women's team and the Philippines promises to be "fiery". Coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will soon enter the semi-finals if they win all 3 points while the Philippine team cannot afford to lose if they want to keep their chance to continue.

Having suffered a 1-2 defeat against the Philippine women's team at the 32nd SEA Games, coach Mai Duc Chung shared: "The Philippine team will definitely increase the speed to play with us, using their strength to sweep and pour many high balls into the 16m50 area. That is their forte, so the coaching staff always reminds the defenders and midfielders to lock down the attackers and not give them much space to make deep passes into the middle."
During the preparation for the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnamese women's team practiced carefully to neutralize the playing style of the Philippine team. Defender Luong Thi Thu Thuong said: "The Philippine players are very tall and good at heading the ball, so my teammates and I tried to minimize this firepower, while closely marking and following the coach's tactics."

The Vietnamese women's team will win a ticket to the semi-finals if they beat the Philippines in the second match of Group B taking place today.

If in the opening match against the Malaysian team, considered the weakest in Group B, coach Mai Duc Chung gave a chance to play for some young players, then in the important match against the Philippines, it is likely that the "elite" of Vietnamese women's football will take the field. Thai Thi Thao and her teammates are expected to have a convincing victory against the Philippines to affirm the strength of the defending champion team.
