The 33rd SEA Games flag raising ceremony took place at the Huamark Sports Complex, next to the Huamark Volleyball Stadium and Rajamangala Football Stadium. The ceremony was attended by all 11 ASEAN sports delegations.
The program started at 2:30 p.m. In the harsh sunlight, the sports delegations from various countries showed their solemnity.
Before the main ceremony, the organizers and sports delegations observed a minute of silence to commemorate Queen Mother Sirikit of Thailand, who passed away in October this year.
Afterwards, Mr. Michai Inwood, Deputy Governor in charge of administration of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), Chairman of the 33rd SEA Games Executive Committee, read the welcome speech at the flag-raising ceremony.

The Vietnamese national flag was raised at the 33rd SEA Games flag raising ceremony.
He shared: "Today's flag-raising ceremony marks a special day, when the ASEAN sports delegations have gathered in full. That shows that we are ready for the 33rd SEA Games. I wish everyone good health, happiness and a spirit of fair play in competition."
After the speech was the flag-raising ceremony of the countries in alphabetical order, namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Timor Leste, Vietnam and finally host Thailand.

The Vietnamese sports delegation solemnly attended the flag-raising ceremony and sang the national anthem.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training, Head of the Vietnamese sports delegation (middle) and Mr. Michai Inwood, Deputy Governor in charge of administration of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), Chairman of the Executive Committee of the 33rd SEA Games, exchanged gifts between the two sports delegations.
Under the red flag with yellow star, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation showed its determination for the highest goal at the 33rd SEA Games.
Sharing with reporters at the flag-raising ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training, Head of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 33rd SEA Games, said: "I hope that when competing, Vietnamese athletes, when facing the strongest athletes in the region such as Thailand and Singapore, will have the motivation to strive and develop their skills to gradually shorten the gap. From there, we will achieve higher results, aiming for further goals such as Asiad and Olympics".
On the evening of December 9, the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games will be held at Rajamangala Stadium, marking the official start of the congress.
