At the conference, the Son La Provincial Military Command assigned the task of conducting a defense area exercise to the Defense Command of Area 3 - Mai Son, Chieng Sinh Ward, Mai Son Commune and Phieng Pan Border Post in 2025. This is a pilot exercise for Military Region 2 to gain experience.

The exercise, titled “Moving armed forces into combat readiness states, moving localities into defense states, organizing preparations and practicing defensive operations”, will take place in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The drill content includes: Changing combat readiness status, organizing force mobility, coordinating defense operations; handling complex situations on the border and in defense areas; coordinating between armed forces with local Party committees, authorities, departments, branches, and organizations in performing military and defense tasks.

Speaking at the conference, Colonel Chu Van Thanh affirmed that this is one of the key contents to improve the quality of training and combat readiness, meeting the requirements of military and defense tasks in the new situation. The exercise aims to test and evaluate the leadership and command capacity of the Regional Defense Command, Border Guards and communes and wards. At the same time, it is an opportunity to train and improve the qualifications and bravery of cadres and soldiers at all levels. Therefore, agencies, units and localities should uphold their sense of responsibility, thoroughly grasp the instructions and plans of Military Region 2 and Son La province, build determination, promote collective intelligence; do a good job of preparation and training according to the motto "basic, practical, solid", ensuring absolute safety for people and weapons and equipment.

At the conference, representatives of the units and communes and wards assigned to the exercise affirmed that they would promote a sense of responsibility, high determination, carefully prepare all aspects, organize the exercise according to plan, achieve the set goals and requirements, contribute to consolidating and enhancing the overall strength and combat readiness of the armed forces, maintaining sovereignty , national border security and the all-people national defense posture in the defense area.
