According to the report of the People's Committee of Son La province, the impact of storm No. 3 and the flood in late July and early August caused flooding, flash floods and landslides in Son La province, leaving 6 people dead, missing and 4 injured.
Nearly 1,200 houses were damaged; of which more than 40 houses collapsed or were completely swept away, more than 770 houses were flooded; many houses had to be urgently evacuated, were damaged and were in areas at high risk of landslides.
Floods have caused thousands of locations on the national and provincial highway systems to have positive slope landslides and road surface silting; 12 suspension bridges and 1 rigid bridge were swept away; many inter-commune, inter-village and intra-village roads were eroded, causing traffic jams; 50 irrigation works were damaged; Agricultural production was also severely damaged, with over 400 hectares of crops affected, nearly 3,000 livestock and poultry swept away... The total estimated damage was nearly 690 billion VND.
Son La is currently focusing on disaster recovery, with the motto “4 on-site”, and with the support of sectors, organizations, and armed forces. Localities are proactively arranging temporary accommodation, ensuring safety for people who have lost their homes, houses located in landslide areas or at high risk of landslides.
The People's Committee at the commune level coordinates with mass organizations, cooperatives, and villages to review and count the area of crops, livestock, and aquatic products damaged by natural disasters; make a list and documents to request support according to the Government 's Decree and the Resolution of the People's Council of Son La province.
