Dead fish on the river flowing through Sieu Quan village (Ta Thanh Oai commune). For decades, the Nhue River has only had scavenger fish, occasionally tilapia drifting out from the fields.
This is in contrast to about 30 years ago, when the Nhue River water was clear in the dry season and red with alluvium in the rainy season, and the current flowed quickly. There were many fish, shrimp, clams, and mussels, so fishing villages were formed on the river, and people from other places also came to cast nets to catch fish and mussels.
