Meritorious Artist Hong Vy was born in 1979 in Hai Lang, Quang Tri , the daughter of the late People's Artist Doan Tan and singer Minh Hong. Meritorious Artist Hong Vy is one of the prominent faces of chamber and revolutionary music. With a beautiful voice and soaring notes, Hong Vy has won many awards in the field of singing.

By March 2021, the cancer index gradually increased, Hong Vy's health gradually declined. In 2022, Meritorious Artist Hong Vy returned with the MV Hanoi 12 Flower Seasons , released on March 8. The song was recorded by her in the middle of chemotherapy at the beginning of the year. She confided that the cancer relapse took away a part of her body but still could not defeat her at this time.

After this time, her health gradually weakened. In the last days of her life, Meritorious Artist Hong Vy suffered from swelling in both legs, cancer cells spread throughout her body, and her intestines became necrotic.
