Born into a family of 6 siblings, Cai is very good at studying, especially Geography. Cai won the third prize in the National Excellent Student Competition in 2013 and was admitted (directly admitted) to the Faculty of Geography, Hanoi National University of Education.
In 2017, Cai decided to implement the "Green Dream" project, mobilizing people to plant trees and cover bare hills and mountains with the aim of planting lots of trees to both protect the environment, prevent natural disasters and help people develop the economy .
The project is mainly implemented in highland areas in the province such as Mu Cang Chai, Tram Tau, Van Chan... with the motto "Plant one tree a day, 365 days 365 trees - One person one tree, million people million trees" and "Local action - Global change". Cai hopes that the project will contribute a small part to help reduce damage caused by climate change and protect the environment.
Cai shared: “At first, I implemented the idea with some local households, they were very interested and responded, then I mobilized friends to have funding, the first campaign planted more than 10,000 trees. From a favorable start, the movement spread, the results were better than expected.”
The main trees planted under the “Million Trees Dream” project are ironwood, fat, sua, trac, acacia, cinnamon, xoan, etc. and some other fruit trees. In the near future, the project will plant more medicinal plants to provide local people with income, aiming at sustainable development.
Cai’s tree planting trips became meaningful journeys with the enthusiastic participation of volunteers, students, friends and local people. Local authorities also wholeheartedly supported, helping the small seedlings have the opportunity to grow strongly.
It is known that with Cai's efforts and everyone's cooperation, up to now, the project "Dream of a million trees" has planted more than 950,000 trees of all kinds across the country.
In addition to the “Million Trees Dream” project, Sung A Cai is also the founder of many other programs to improve the lives and education of poor children in his hometown. The “Knowledge of My Village” project was launched by him in 2016, with the desire to bring books, stories and stationery to schools in remote areas.
In addition, “My Hometown Farm” was established to develop sustainable agriculture, providing fresh food for local people. In 2022, he continued to initiate the “Nhuoc” project with the goal of providing scholarships to poor students who have overcome difficulties, while organizing career guidance activities to help them orient their future.
Once a student supported by the Light of Faith Scholarship Fund throughout his university years, Cai is now the bridge between the Scholarship Fund and students in difficult circumstances.
For the past 10 years, Cai has been responsible for verifying the circumstances so that the Scholarship Fund can be awarded to the right people. With his contributions, Sung A Cai was honored at the 2022 Youth for Community Honor Ceremony organized by the Vietnam Volunteer Community. In 2024, Cai continued to be honored as one of 10 individuals to receive the National Volunteer Award.
