In recent years, the rapid urbanization along with the strong socio -economic development has put a lot of pressure on the environment in the province. Air pollution, the decline in the quality of surface water, groundwater and land degradation are gradually becoming major challenges. Although the Party Committees and authorities at all levels have made many efforts to raise public awareness, control waste sources, collect and treat waste in 100% of communes, wards and towns; the forest coverage rate has reached 25%, the results achieved have not yet met practical requirements. The treatment of domestic waste is mainly by landfill, waste treatment projects are still slow, the rate of wastewater collected and treated is still low, while the awareness of environmental protection of a part of the population is still not high.
Provincial police deploy many solutions to ensure environmental sanitation.
Faced with that reality, the Provincial Police identified environmental protection as not only a political task but also a social responsibility of each officer and soldier. With the spirit of pioneering for a green life, the Provincial Police has issued many practical action programs associated with professional tasks. In the construction of headquarters and barracks, units have focused on treating waste and wastewater according to standards. At the same time, many peak periods of attacking and suppressing environmental crimes have been organized, contributing to preventing acts of discharging waste that cause pollution.
Responding to the "Anti-plastic pollution" movement in 2025, since the beginning of the year, the Provincial Police have organized a launching ceremony with many rich and widespread activities: parades, propaganda on major streets of Vinh Yen city (old), cleaning up around Ho Chi Minh Square Lake area, giving gifts of environmentally friendly products at Vinh Yen Market. The Youth Union of the Police units also signed the Emulation Covenant "Joining hands to protect the environment, preventing and combating plastic waste", demonstrating the spirit of solidarity and determination to fulfill the commitment to act for the environment.
Not only stopping at short-term movements, many models of "Anti-plastic pollution" have been deployed and replicated. Units proactively plant trees, collect plastic waste, recycle and reuse hard-to-decompose materials; encourage officers, soldiers and relatives to limit the use of disposable plastic products, replacing them with environmentally friendly products. At conferences and seminars, the Provincial Police use glass water bottles instead of plastic bottles, contributing to changing daily living habits in a civilized and sustainable direction.
The Provincial Police also set clear goals for 2025 and the following years: 100% of events and activities organized by the Youth Union will not use disposable plastic products; include criteria for reducing plastic waste in annual emulation assessments; promptly commend and reward groups and individuals with initiatives and effective models in environmental protection. These specific actions, though simple, have profound spreading meanings, contributing to the formation of a green lifestyle in the entire force and in the community.
All officers and soldiers of the Provincial Police are on the front lines in environmental protection.
The leaders of the Provincial Police Department affirmed that environmental protection is a task of special importance, closely linked to the health and lives of the people and the sustainable development of the locality. Each police officer and soldier must be a leading example, not only in law enforcement but also in environmental protection awareness and climate change response.
In the coming time, the Provincial Police will do a good job of disseminating, thoroughly grasping and effectively implementing the policies, laws of the Party, the State and the regulations of the Ministry of Public Security on environmental protection and climate change response to all officers and soldiers. Guide the Police of units and localities to promote their pioneering and frontline role on the front of environmental protection and climate change response; natural disaster prevention and control, search and rescue. Be proactive and sensitive in collecting and processing environmental intelligence information, promptly advising the leaders of the Party, the State and relevant ministries and branches in directing and operating.
Heads of Public Security units regularly inspect, evaluate, draw experience, and promptly commend and reward typical units, organizations, and individuals whose work results exceed planned targets and have good practices and creative models in environmental protection activities at the unit to bring about the highest results.
