On December 6, 2025, at Phu Tho Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, a free congenital heart disease screening program was held for children under 18 years old in the province. The program was organized by Tam Long Viet Fund - Vietnam Television and Viettel Phu Tho, with the participation of leading specialists from the Pediatric Cardiology Department - E Hospital and Phu Tho Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.
Attending the Opening Ceremony were Professor, Doctor Nguyen Huy Ngoc - Vice Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee, Master, Doctor Nguyen Dac Ca - Deputy Director of the Department of Health, Mr. Vu Thanh Thuy - Editor-in-Chief of VTV Times, Director of Tam Long Viet Fund, Dr. Pham Thai Ha - Director of Phu Tho Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, Dr. Nguyen Dac Dai - Head of Pediatric Cardiology Department, E Hospital; along with representatives of leaders of departments, branches and sectors: Department of Health, Department of Education and Training, Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism; representatives of leaders of Tam Long Viet Fund, leaders of the Provincial People's Committee Office, Nong Trang Ward People's Committee and a large number of people and children attending the program.
The program received attention and support from all levels, departments and branches of the province.
This is the fifth time the "Heart for Children" program has come to children in Phu Tho province. In 2017, 2020, 2022 and 2024, the program organized free screening for more than 12,000 children and supported surgery costs for 150 children in difficult circumstances. Of which, in 2024, 39 children were consulted for heart surgery after screening, and from January 2025 to now, 10 cases have been supported.
Accordingly, all children under 18 years old in the province and neighboring provinces suspected of having congenital heart disease will be examined for free and receive treatment advice from specialists. For children suspected of having congenital heart disease, after the screening results are available, they will be guided to prepare documents for timely surgery. In the case of children with difficult family circumstances with heart disease who are indicated for intervention and surgery, they will be guided through the registration procedure to request financial assistance from the "Heart for Children" program.
"Heart for Children" is a program that supports surgeries for poor children under 18 years old in Vietnam, supports improving medical capacity, and organizes congenital heart disease screening activities for children. The program was founded and operated by the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group (Viettel) and Tam Long Viet Fund - Vietnam Television from 2008 to present.
Over the past 17 years, "Heart for Children" has brought miracles to nearly 7,600 successful surgeries, organized screenings for nearly 190,000 children and mobilized more than 250 billion VND from the hearts of the community. With profound humanitarian meaning, the program has truly connected love, care, sharing, and mobilized social resources to help children in difficult circumstances receive treatment, giving them the opportunity to revive healthy hearts for a better future.
After Phu Tho Provincial Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital, the program continued to reach children at the Thanh Son Regional Medical Center examination point on the afternoon of December 6, 2025 and Tan Lac Regional Medical Center on the morning of December 7, 2025.
