Ngoc Ha Ward launched Population Action Month 2025

At the launching ceremony of the 2025 Population Action Month in Ngoc Ha ward (Hanoi), ward leaders warned about the problem of late marriage and gender imbalance at birth.

On the morning of December 8, in Ngoc Ha ward ( Hanoi ), the launching ceremony of the National Action Month on Population 2025 took place with the theme "Investing in population work is investing in sustainable development". This event aims to open a series of communication activities towards the 64th anniversary of Vietnam Population Day, demonstrating the locality's determination to improve population quality in the face of many new challenges.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Trong Diep, Deputy Head of Ngoc Ha Ward Health Station, emphasized that the trend of late marriage is clearly affecting the birth rate and reproductive health. He said that prenatal and newborn screening and premarital health check-ups have not yet received attention from young people, leading to the risk of missing the time to detect genetic diseases and congenital malformations early, which has long-term effects on the quality of human resources.

In addition, during the period when Hanoi switches to a two-tier local government model from July 1, 2025, the population team in the ward is under great pressure to adjust processes, workload and maintain continuous services. However, Ngoc Ha ward has quickly stabilized the organization, mobilized the health station, unions and 77 population collaborators to ensure that work at the grassroots level is not interrupted.

The presentations at the launching ceremony also clarified the need to improve population quality from the root. Youth representative Nguyen The Huy said that the youth force will promote online communication, organize thematic activities at schools, promote pre-marital examination, encourage responsible lifestyles and say no to early marriage, incestuous marriage and fetal sex selection.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lan, a population collaborator of Residential Group 27, affirmed that the grassroots level still adheres to the principle of "going to every alley, knocking on every door, checking every subject". According to her, the effectiveness of population work only comes when the advice is correct, accurate, and clear so that people can understand and implement it. Collaborators directly support prenatal and newborn screening, reproductive health counseling, updating population changes and mobilizing people to abandon male-preference ideology.

At the end of the Launching Ceremony, Ngoc Ha Ward deployed a Mobile Communication Program, bringing the message of the 2025 Population Action Month to every street and residential area.

At the end of the ceremony, the Population and Development Steering Committee of Ngoc Ha ward called on the entire political system and people to participate in the 2025 Population Action Month with a focus on improving population quality, promoting marriage and childbirth at the right age, increasing pre-marital examination, prenatal and newborn screening and ensuring reproductive health care services at the grassroots level.
