Grains of rice of love
Stemming from the desire to share with the less fortunate, in 2018, the women of Lac Dao commune together established the Charity Rice Jar Club with 18 members. Up to now, the Club has attracted more than 80 members. The Club operates on a voluntary basis, without collecting fixed funds, all contributions are mobilized directly: people contribute rice, money, property, and labor. The Executive Board will review, meet and discuss to support poor households, single women, families with sudden events... It is this simple and sincere way of doing things that has built trust in the community.
Since 2018, the Club has regularly donated 10kg of rice per household per month to poor households in the commune. In the period of 2021 - 2025 alone, the Club has donated over 20 tons of rice, equivalent to nearly 300 million VND to hundreds of households. In addition, the Club also gives Tet gifts, honors meritorious people on July 27, supports poor children to overcome difficulties, and takes care of students at the beginning of the new school year with a total annual budget of over 200 million VND.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thau, a single woman in Cau village, who has been regularly supported with rice by the Club since 2019, shared: My life is full of hardships, and my health is poor, so sometimes I don't know how to manage. Thanks to the sisters in the Club giving me 10kg of rice/month, my burden is somewhat relieved. What touched me most was not the amount of rice, but the sincerity and care of the sisters for people in difficulty like me.
Also in a special situation, Ms. Do Thi Quynh in Me Dau village (Dai Dong commune) who raises a mentally ill daughter and two orphaned grandchildren confided: My family has been in need for many years. But thanks to the Charity Rice Jar Club's regular support of 10kg of rice/month since 2020, I have more support to continue to nurture and care for my grandchildren.
Spread love
Not only supporting within the commune, the charity activities of the Charity Rice Jar Club also reach out to many provinces and cities across the country. The Club is also a bridge for many volunteer groups and charitable organizations to join hands to help people with disabilities. Through the connection of the Club, charitable groups have donated a total of 55 wheelchairs, 3 chairs and dozens of gifts worth more than 75 million VND to people with disabilities in Lac Dao, Dai Dong and Nhu Quynh communes.
In the period of 2020 - 2024, the Club has implemented a series of volunteer activities across the country such as: 10 trips to donate seedlings to plant forests in mountainous provinces with a total value of 267 million VND; 20 visits to orphans at Thien Huong Pagoda worth 218 million VND; 20 trips to provide relief to people affected by storms and floods worth over 1 billion VND; donating thousands of Ao Dai through "Shop 0 VND" in Dien Bien province... Many schools, pagodas, and policy families have also been supported to build and repair with a budget of hundreds of millions of VND.

From the beginning of 2025 until now, the Club has continued to promote charitable activities with a total value of over 600 million VND, including donating rice, cash, gifts; organizing gratitude on the occasion of Lunar New Year, July 27; planting forests in mountainous provinces; building rural roads; supporting the construction of 2 new houses; sponsoring 2 abandoned children; and many relief activities for people in storm and flood areas in provinces and cities: Da Nang , Nghe An, Quang Tri, Hue, Thai Nguyen...

As one of the enthusiastic members, Mrs. Tran Thi Toan in Huong Dao village shared: Joining the Club, I feel my life is more meaningful. I always try to contribute rice, money as well as working days when the Club organizes gift giving or visits to the disadvantaged. I just hope that my small contribution can bring motivation to families with many difficulties.
Accompanying the Club from the early days, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thieng, Club Chairwoman and Head of the Women's Association of Giua Village, said: We always determine that volunteer activities must be sustainable, transparent and widespread. The youngest Club member is only 23 years old, the oldest is over 90 years old, but everyone is enthusiastic about a common goal: bringing love to more people in difficult circumstances. In the future, we will continue to try to help more people in difficult circumstances.
With a series of activities of profound humanistic values, the Lac Dao Commune Charity Rice Jar Club has become a bright spot in the women's volunteer movement of Hung Yen province. From the grains of rice, love is spread, connected and multiplied, contributing to building a more united, compassionate and prosperous community every day.
