Over the past 7 years, for many people in Nam Sach district, Hai Duong province (old), now Tran Phu commune, Hai Phong city, the name of teacher Hoang Thi Thu Phuong (Thanh Quang Primary and Secondary School) and the Thanh Quang Thien Tam Charity Group has become a familiar support for unfortunate lives. The Thanh Quang Thien Tam Charity Group, founded and run by Ms. Phuong since 2018, is a place to connect love for hundreds of people in difficult circumstances.

Ms. Phuong's volunteer work started from the class she was in charge of. Many students were poor and lacked pens, books, and school supplies. She quietly spent her own money to buy each textbook, pencil, and ruler so that the students could go to school and study.

Feeling sorry for her students, she began to look more broadly. The images of students in the highlands huddled in the winter, walking barefoot to class on TV and social media… made her worried. And then the 7-8 hour trips up the mountain road began. She collected old clothes, books, asked for more food, plants, and seeds and brought them to remote villages.

Ms. Phuong's volunteer group gave hospital support to Mr. Tran Van Dung's family in Hop Tien commune.

Among the countless cases her group has helped, the story of Mr. Tran Van Dung in Nam Tan commune, old Nam Sach district, now Hop Tien commune, Hai Phong city, has moved people in the village and outside the commune. In early April 2025, Mr. Dung had a work accident that resulted in brain damage and cerebral hemorrhage, requiring emergency surgery at a cost of hundreds of millions of dong.

His family was poor, and he was the only one to support two young children and his elderly, sick parents. As soon as he heard the news, Ms. Phuong quickly verified it and wrote a post calling for support. In just a short time, many benefactors came to him or sent money to the group. Thanks to that, all of his surgery and treatment costs were fully covered. After that, the group also opened a savings account of 115 million VND for the family to prepare for Mr. Dung's skull transplant surgery.

Recovering from the critical condition, Mr. Dung choked up and said: "I feel like I was born a second time." His father, Mr. Tran Van Trang, emotionally said: "Without the Thanh Quang Charity Group, my family would have had to give up."

Teacher Hoang Thi Thu Phuong and Thanh Quang Charity Group gave gifts to poor students in Nghia Do commune, Lao Cai province.

Since 2018, thanks to the transparency and prestige in each activity, Thien Tam Thanh Quang Charity Group has mobilized more than 3 billion VND and tens of thousands of items including blankets, medicine, books, food, etc. to send to poor students, terminally ill patients or those in especially difficult circumstances. Ms. Phuong said that in most cases, she personally went to the site to survey, worked with local authorities and then posted an appeal on social networks.

The family of Mrs. Tran Thi Hoanh in Tong Pho village, Tran Phu commune is an example. Mrs. Hoanh's son has congenital cerebral palsy, the house is dilapidated, and the economy is exhausted. The charity group Thien Tam Thanh Quang supported her family with 60 million VND in the early years of its establishment, then continued to support 30 million VND after storm No. 3 in 2024 to rebuild the house. Living in the new, spacious house, Mrs. Hoanh emotionally said: "Even in my dreams, I never thought I would be able to live in such a sturdy house."

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Ms. Phuong called for hundreds of millions of VND to buy oxygen concentration meters, masks, and food to send to quarantine areas, medical centers, and rapid response teams in Ho Chi Minh City. After natural disasters and floods, she was the one who proactively wrote articles calling for help and organized relief groups. After storm No. 3 in 2024, from the flooded area in Lau Khe village (Hiep Cat commune, now Tran Phu commune) to the resettlement sites of 94 households in Lao Cai, wherever there was a need, she tried to find a way to connect.

For many years now, on the occasion of International Children's Day June 1, the group has regularly visited Tan Trieu K Hospital (Hanoi) to give gifts to children undergoing cancer treatment. The small gifts carry a sincere sharing, adding to the spirit of the children and their families.

In October and November this year, Ms. Phuong's Thanh Quang Charity Group organized 3 rounds, giving nearly 1 billion VND including 500 gifts and other essential items to people in flooded areas in Dong Be and To Hieu villages (Lang Son), and giving 27 goats to 13 poor and near-poor households in Nam Dau, Thac Xa 1, Nam Ria, and Nghia Do communes (Lao Cai). In Nghia Do commune, a particularly difficult locality, the group implemented the "Thien Tam Green" project, giving 20,000 cinnamon seedlings and 154 gifts (each worth 400,000 VND) to 154 poor students of all 9 schools in the commune.

Also during the trip to give gifts in Nghia Do, the group returned to visit the people of Mo Da village, Tan Duong commune (Lao Cai) and felt really happy when the breeding goats and pigs that the group gave after the Yagi storm in 2024 have now multiplied, helping the people gradually stabilize their lives. From the pair of breeding pigs when given, the people have now multiplied to 16, or the cowshed has a new litter of calves, the whole group seems to have more motivation to continue firmly on the path of charity.

Thanks to her dedication and transparency in all activities, Ms. Phuong and the Thanh Quang Charity Group have been recognized many times by the government and the Red Cross at all levels.

In her teaching duties, Ms. Phuong is a good teacher, dedicated to the profession of "sowing letters" and also sowing love and kindness to many generations of students. Many of her students are working in all parts of the country or abroad and have been and are accompanying the Thanh Quang Charity Group.
