Known as the "capital" of tea trees in Lai Chau , along with the direction to ensure the annual and term-long new planting targets, Tan Uyen district authorities have many policies to encourage and support the exploitation, processing and production of tea to create quality tea products for domestic and foreign markets.
According to the district's report, from 2021 to present, Tan Uyen has newly planted 298.7 hectares of tea, bringing the total tea area of the district to 3,617.4 hectares, of which 3,327.5 hectares are for business tea. As a perennial crop, taking advantage of the district's strengths to expand the newly planted area, tea is now the main crop bringing a stable source of income and the green color of prosperity and abundance in each village in Tan Uyen. The aroma of Tan Uyen tea has spread to the domestic market and exported to markets in the Middle East and China.
With a positive and strong policy to attract investors, last March, Tan Uyen Tea Joint Stock Company's Tea Processing Factory came into operation. This is the second tea joint stock company (after Than Uyen Tea Joint Stock Company) to operate systematically on a large scale, in the direction of linking with other establishments to produce high-quality tea products, exporting finished products to the market. Thanks to that, many opportunities have been opened for Tan Uyen tea products to increase their value and solve the problem of employment for local workers. Commenting on the support of the district authorities and professional agencies, Mr. Do Viet Trung - Director of the Company said that the unit has invested in tea planting in many places, but in Tan Uyen district, there is an open mechanism, thereby creating favorable conditions for investors. This is an important condition for the company to feel secure in producing and processing tea products, improving the reputation and quality of products.

Through research, it is known that in recent years, Tan Uyen district has focused on developing key economic models in attracting investment, linking to form concentrated commodity production areas associated with processing and consumption of products, especially tea products. This is demonstrated by calling for and attracting companies, enterprises, and cooperatives (HTX) to cooperate with people to build tea processing factories in the direction of deep processing. In the past, 4 companies and cooperatives have been called to build tea processing factories, bringing the total number to 15 processing factories. In order to attract, create opportunities and conditions for enterprises, cooperatives, households producing, processing and consuming tea products in the area, the district has implemented many synchronous solutions.
Comrade Lo Van Bien - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee said: The district has established a working group to support enterprises with investment projects in the area with the task of propagating, mobilizing, and supporting enterprises investing in projects in the district in general, enterprises and cooperatives producing and processing tea in particular, on work contents related to project implementation and when enterprises and cooperatives have proposals that need the support of the working group. Improve the effectiveness of administrative procedure reform, well implement the "one-stop" and "one-stop" mechanisms, quickly and conveniently resolve investment procedures for investors in the locality. Agencies and units are responsible for guiding investment procedures, land allocation and lease procedures, appraisal and approval of locations for input projects in the district, and are responsible for creating favorable conditions for investors to implement projects.
In addition, the district also integrates support policies to help businesses access preferential capital from banks; commits to and ensures that funding sources to support businesses and people when investing in agriculture are properly and adequately supported according to current policies. Support businesses in building brands, introducing and promoting products, geographical indications for agricultural products with strengths in the region, especially tea products. Directs specialized agencies and units of the district to coordinate with investors in providing information, updating favorable conditions of each region and location, participating in surveys and proposing appropriate investment plans. Prioritize opening training courses to improve the quality of human resources operating in strong production fields such as tea production and processing. Coordinate to propose specific and practical solutions to remove difficulties and create the most favorable environment for investors. Propose competent authorities to promptly resolve difficulties and problems of investment projects related to tea production and processing.
With the utmost priority given to tea development, this crop will certainly continue to thrive as the main economic sector of the locality. And thus, the poverty reduction effort of the district will achieve even greater results.
