Timely handling of violations
On April 1, 2025, the Provincial Inter-sectoral Steering Committee on Food Safety and Hygiene (FSH) issued Plan No. 31/KH-BCDATP on implementing the “Food Safety Action Month” in 2025 (from April 15 to May 15) with the theme “Ensuring food safety, focusing on food safety in collective kitchens, catering services and street food”. To implement this plan, sectors and levels have actively implemented specific solutions.
Typically, in Tan Uyen City, the City's Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station coordinated with the Provincial Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Fisheries Department to inspect and collect 7 samples for food safety monitoring at Tan Uyen Market, Uyen Hung Ward; coordinated with the City Health Department to inspect 7 establishments, including the collective kitchens of 2 kindergartens, 2 primary schools and restaurants in the area. The results showed that all establishments ensured food safety. In addition, the City's Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station coordinated to organize propaganda and guide livestock breeding, trading, slaughtering establishments, animal and animal product business households in the area to ensure food safety; guide livestock breeders to use veterinary drugs and antibiotics in the permitted list, use safe animal feed that does not contain prohibited substances; guide consumers to recognize clean food, rights and obligations in ensuring food safety, etc.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, since the beginning of the year, the department has promoted propaganda on food safety in the media; provided guidance to consumers on food safety. In addition, the department's inspection team conducted 479 inspections on the conditions for trading animals and animal products at markets, inspected disease prevention at livestock farms and food safety conditions at concentrated slaughterhouses for livestock and poultry. CP Vietnam complies with food safety procedures
Immediately after receiving information that a former employee "accused" CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company (CP Vietnam Company) of selling sick pigs and chickens to the market, the provincial Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Fisheries urgently established an inspection team. The inspection team divided into 2 groups to simultaneously conduct surprise inspections of 9 CP Freshop stores of CP Vietnam Company in Thu Dau Mot City, Thuan An, Di An, Tan Uyen and Ben Cat. The inspection results over two days (June 4 and 5) showed that at the time of inspection, CP Freshop stores were trading in about 40 items of pre-processed animal meat products, trading in fresh meat products (pork, chicken), processed meat and seafood products, poultry eggs, canned foods, packaged foods, etc. The source of pork is imported from Dong Nai province. For products transported between provinces, the facilities must present full quarantine certificates. For processed meat and seafood products, there are invoices for purchasing pre-packaged processed products from the company...
In the face of worrying information surrounding pork products of CP Vietnam Company, CP Freshop stores of CP Vietnam Company are still operating normally, however, the number of customers buying products at these units has decreased sharply. "Since the information about the suspected case of infected pork, sales at the store have decreased by 70%. Currently, we only maintain a few regular, long-term customers. We hope to soon have transparent, official information from the authorities to ensure safety for consumers," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc, head of CP Freshop store No. 8 (My Phuoc ward, Ben Cat city).
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Deputy Head of the Provincial Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Fisheries, the unit has assessed and granted a food safety certificate in 2023 to CP Vietnam Company. This certificate is valid for 3 years, the department regularly conducts food safety inspections of this company. Recently, due to information related to the food safety issue of this company, the industry conducted a surprise inspection. By the end of the inspection (June 5), in general, 9 business locations of CP Vietnam Company in the province complied well with food safety regulations. The facilities have all necessary licenses to operate, have production processes, pest control processes, and have complete records on the origin of goods to ensure easy traceability. Particularly for CP Freshop store No. 9 (Di An City), there was only one error: the health certificates of 3 employees working at the facility had expired, the inspection team requested urgent supplementation. The store then provided medical records of the three employees.
In the coming time, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will continue to propagate, mobilize, and support production and business establishments to boost production, organize production forecasting well, provide adequate supply of goods to the market, and stabilize selling prices. Along with that, the Department encourages the application of biosafety livestock farming solutions combined with the use of preparations to enhance resistance for livestock. The Department also coordinates with relevant units to strengthen inspection, prevent, and promptly handle organizations and individuals violating regulations on slaughtering, transporting, and trading of livestock and poultry with pathogens, etc.
Recently, the Provincial Police have implemented a plan to coordinate with the commune-level police to review, grasp the situation, and correctly assess the current status of food production and trading, food product groups, and food safety and hygiene (FSH) in the province. Accordingly, the police force of the whole province focuses on combating and strictly handling violations such as the use of banned substances and substances not on the list of substances permitted for use in food production and processing; acts of producing and trading in counterfeit and poor-quality food products; acts of smuggling and illegal transportation of food across the border... At the same time, the Provincial Police force coordinates with specialized agencies to organize propaganda on FHS laws to organizations and individuals doing business and buying and selling food... |
