BHG - Determining that building a new rural area (NTM) is a sustainable, effective direction, with important significance in socio-economic development, in recent years, Lien Hiep commune (Bac Quang) has focused on mobilizing resources, promoting the spirit of solidarity of the people to improve the quality of criteria with the consistent viewpoint "Building a new rural area has a starting point but no ending point", in order to meet people's needs and improve the quality of people's lives.
In 2021, Lien Hiep commune was honored to be recognized as a commune meeting the NTM standards after completing 19/19 criteria. This is an important milestone, marking the outstanding efforts of the Party Committee, government and people in the commune, contributing to creating positive changes in socio-economic development, significantly improving the material and spiritual life of the people; gradually perfecting the rural appearance. Promoting the achieved results, after 4 years of reaching the finish line, the NTM Steering Committee of the commune has continuously consolidated and improved the quality of the criteria. Every year, the commune proactively reviews and evaluates the status of each criterion to promptly have solutions to overcome limitations, preventing the situation of falling standards. Comrade Trieu Van Ngan, Acting Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, said: “The commune pays special attention to criteria with fluctuating factors such as: Environment, income, poverty rate, traffic, electricity, etc. These are criteria that require the synchronous participation of the entire political system, promoting the role of the people as the main subject to maintain sustainability and gradually improve the quality of the criteria.”

Regarding environmental criteria, the commune maintains and replicates models such as: "Clean house, beautiful garden"; "Join hands to build new rural areas"; weekly and monthly launching movements to build green - clean - beautiful landscapes and environments in the commune, villages, and inter-village roads. Villages proactively clean village roads and alleys in a number of ways such as: Dredging sewers, canals, clearing bushes, collecting and treating waste, planting trees, planting flowers, etc.
Regarding income criteria, by the end of 2024, the average income per capita of the whole commune will reach 45 million VND/year, the multidimensional poverty rate will be 52 households/1,074 households, accounting for 4.84%. This year, the commune will continue to focus on expanding effective economic models such as: Renovating mixed gardens, raising fattening buffaloes, raising caged fish, expanding grass growing areas, expanding livestock scale, creating conditions for people to access preferential loans; continue to implement the model of "Buffalo breeding", proposing to support 130 million VND for 3 participating households to ensure quality from the stage of purchasing breeding animals, improving production efficiency, reducing the rate of multidimensional poverty households, and improving people's lives.
In addition, the commune focuses on synchronously implementing programs, projects, and policies to support rural development; promoting propaganda to raise people's awareness of the purpose and significance of the National Target Program on New Rural Development, and the role of the people in organizing implementation. Cooperating with socio-political organizations such as the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Women's Union, the Veterans Association, the Commune Farmers' Association, etc. to strengthen propaganda through typical and advanced examples, spreading the movement widely in the community, contributing to creating changes in awareness and action among the people.
Building a new rural area is not only a task of completing infrastructure but also a long-term process, aiming at improving the material and spiritual life and income of rural people. With the high determination of the entire political system and the consensus of the people, Lien Hiep commune continues to promote the achieved results, maintain and improve the quality of the new rural criteria, aiming to build advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas in the coming time.
