For journalist Thu Phuong, every journalistic work begins with the urge of a journalist. That is why she does not choose topics just to enter the contest, but chooses issues that are "hot", moving, have the power to spread or contain stories that need to be spoken. There are topics that come from the journey with the people such as unfortunate lives; from political depth such as Party building, administrative reform; reflecting good people, good deeds, good models, creative ways of developing the economy, eliminating bad customs, building a civilized lifestyle... All must be correct, accurate in terms of information and orientation, but must reach the hearts of readers with authenticity. Only then will the work leave a lasting mark and value.
One of the memories that journalist Thu Phuong remembers most is when she wrote the article: Dan Puc field "cries for help" in Tan Thanh 3 village, Lien Hiep commune (Bac Quang). That was in early 2023, when she followed the people's reflections to the field, she saw the whole field that used to produce 2 rice crops a year suddenly full of pumps and water pipes. The fields were cracked, the rice seedlings were yellow, and people were rushing to ask for water from everywhere... The reason was that during the construction process to handle traffic black spots on National Highway 279, hundreds of cubic meters of soil filled up Phai Phia canal, the main source of irrigation water for more than 12 hectares of spring rice.
Journalist Thu Phuong confided: “When I left the field that day, my heart was heavy because I knew that many people were still “waiting”, waiting for the authorities, waiting for the construction unit, waiting for a response to the petition to “rescue” the field that had been sent for many months without a response. After being published, the article received positive feedback from the local government and related departments and branches. Just a few days later, the dredging of the buried ditch was carried out. The irrigation water source returned to Dan Puc, the fields gradually revived and people were able to produce on schedule. That was when I truly felt more clearly the value of journalism, not only reflecting the current situation but also being a voice to clear up bottlenecks from reality to help people have more faith in justice and reason.”

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025). In that flow, journalists in remote areas like journalist Thu Phuong still quietly go, quietly write, sow faith, light, and good values that true journalism strives for. From those tireless steps, the journey of journalism in the far North of the Fatherland will certainly reap more sweet fruits.
