In 2025, the Labor Federation will continue to coordinate with trade unions at all levels in the province and local authorities to create many activities to care for the lives of union members and workers through visiting and giving gifts on holidays and Tet; supporting workers in difficult circumstances, illness, and work-related accidents with a total amount of up to hundreds of billions of VND.

Prioritize care for workers with special difficulties

According to the Provincial Federation of Labor (FFL), in the first 6 months of 2025, the whole province had more than 300,000 union members and workers enjoying care policies during Tet with a total amount of more than 327 billion VND. On the occasion of Workers' Month, nearly 78,000 union members and workers were cared for with a total amount of more than 8.8 billion VND. The fund to support workers in especially difficult circumstances continued to be maintained to visit union members and workers with serious illnesses and deaths due to occupational accidents (OAs). In the first 6 months of the year, the fund visited 50 cases with a total amount of 466 million VND...

Ms. Ong Thuy Hoang Mai, Vice President of the Provincial Federation of Labor, said that in addition to focusing on taking care of Tet and activities during Workers' Month, the provincial union directed grassroots unions to regularly update the number of union members and workers in difficult circumstances, with serious illnesses and occupational accidents to promptly support them from the province's Fund to support workers in especially difficult circumstances.

The trade unions coordinate with business owners to support rent, fuel, allowances, and support workers' children to go to school. "In general, each trade union has activities to take care of workers' lives quite well. Thereby, workers' thinking is stable, they believe in the Party's policies and the State's laws and policies," said Ms. Mai.

In enterprises with a large number of union members and workers, the work of caring for the lives of workers, especially female workers and workers in difficult circumstances, is carefully organized by the Trade Union. Ms. Pham Thi Duyen, Vice President of the Trade Union of Apparel Far Eastern Co., Ltd. (Thuan An City), shared: “The company has more than 4,000 employees, of which 75% are female. Understanding the difficult circumstances of many workers, the Trade Union has created activities for union members and workers such as organizing skill competitions for workers 4 times a year. Through that, each worker proves their capacity, has an income commensurate with their work achievements, raising the average income of workers from 8 to 12 million VND/person/month. For cases of special difficulties and illnesses, the Trade Union has launched a fundraising campaign throughout the company. Entertainment activities and gift giving for workers in difficulty during holidays and Tet are maintained regularly.”

Since the beginning of the year, the Trade Union of Rochdale Spears Company Limited (Tan Uyen City) has coordinated well with the Board of Directors to focus on many activities to care for the lives of employees. The company has more than 5,000 employees, always maintaining an average income of 10 million VND/person/month. Mr. Mai Van Can, Vice Chairman of the Trade Union of the company, said: "Just counting the gift giving to disadvantaged workers, creating a playground for employees on the occasion of International Women's Day March 8, the Trade Union has coordinated with the company to care for employees with more than 500 million VND. For especially difficult cases, the company always has separate support policies".

Variety of activities

In addition to taking care of material life, the construction of increasingly strong trade union organizations, reducing occupational accidents, signing collective labor agreements beneficial to workers, etc. are focused on by trade unions at all levels. Thereby, in the first 6 months of 2025, the whole province established 131 new grassroots trade unions, developed 30,722 new union members; bringing the total number of grassroots trade unions to 4,216 with 814,051 union members. To date, the whole province has 2,660/3,482 enterprises and units with trade unions that have signed collective labor agreements, reaching a rate of 76.39%. At the same time, 3,184 grassroots trade unions negotiated to improve the quality of shift meals for workers, ensuring that they reach 20,000 VND or more.

In the first 6 months of the year, trade unions at all levels have organized propaganda and dissemination of the Party's policies and resolutions, the State's laws and policies, and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor's directives and instructions to 818,131 union members and employees; participated in promoting 341,896 workers to participate in studying to improve their qualifications and professional skills; 1,822 trade unions in enterprises organized Workers' Month activities. The whole province has 50 newly established mass women's unions; 1,042 new initiatives, models, and good practices have been recognized as valuable and have brought in billions of VND in profits; 75 collectives and 394 typical individuals are typical examples of advanced models honored and rewarded by trade unions at all levels as "Good workers, creative workers"; more than 25,700 people came to participate in activities at the Labor Culture Centers of the province.

In recent times, the reduction of occupational accidents in the area has always been a concern and coordinated effort of trade unions at all levels. Since the beginning of the year, 287 occupational accidents have occurred in the province, resulting in 289 victims; of which 25 cases resulted in 27 deaths. The main cause is due to employers violating labor procedures; in some cases, employees have not complied with internal rules and regulations during the production process...

To reduce occupational accidents, the Provincial Federation of Labor coordinated with the Department of Home Affairs to organize training courses on occupational safety and hygiene for hundreds of enterprises; organize visits, share, encourage and provide support to families affected by occupational accidents.
